About Meerkat Compound

Meerkat Compound is situated within walking distance of the centre of Kakamas. We offer eight spacious, fully equipped cottages with either one or two bedrooms. The cottages can accommodate up to six people each.

We create green Meerkat footsteps with gas stoves, and energy saving geysers and cooling systems. The antique furniture lends an Old World charm. You can enjoy a meal in our dining room, watch DStv in your cottage or have a braai and just relax.

Be sure not to miss us, right across the well known Pienk Padstal on the N14 as you enter Kakamas from Upington. “Well priced and very nice”.

The owner was helpful and friendly. The room was well equipped and clean and there was even fresh milk in the fridge. The only problem was the traffic noise as Meerkat is situated next to the main road . But for that is was well worth the money spend.

We booked 2 units for a group of 8 people on the way back to Johannesburg from our canoeing trip on the Orange River. Marius was very helpful and gave us ideas of where to find pizzas in Kakamas (6 teenagers were craving pizzas!) The units were spotlessly clean, very spacious and exceptionally well equipped. The air conditioning was appreciated by all! Would definitely recommend

The place was clean, booking was a breeze via safarinow.com.One thing that bothered was the aircon. Even on its lowest fan speed it is noisy, blowing a lot of air around. Couldn't sleep while it was on.Swithing it off you quickly start sweating. Ended up having very little sleep. Nice touch was the free coffee and tea. Would I recommend it?Yes. But bring earplugs for the aircon and mosquito repellent.

Under roof parking, good braai and otherwise most comfortable stay-over.

only stayed for a night, but enjoyed the unit which catered well for our requirements. Kakamas is a lovely place to visit.
