About Komati River Chalets

Nestled on the confluence of the Komati and Crocodile Rivers, Komati River Chalets is ideally located for those wanting to explore the Southern Kruger National Park and Mpumalanga regions of South Africa. The lodge is on 12 acres of Komati riverfront wilderness, portraying a distinct feeling of wild Africa.

The lodge and the individual chalets are a mere 50 m from the water’s edge, where pods of hippos and an array of spectacular bird life will entertain you for hours on end. Try your luck at fishing for the mighty tiger fish which inhabit these untamed waters.

The 14 double or twin chalets and six Family Chalets are all tastefully decorated, comfortable and offer a distinct home away from home atmosphere. The Family Chalets are perfect for families with two en-suite bedrooms, a central lounge and a kitchen leading out onto a private patio. There is electric fencing and 24-hour security on the property.

All of the en-suite rooms are air-conditioned, providing a welcome relief from the hot summer sun of the Southern Kruger region. The central facilities offer a bar, the Calabash Bistro á la carte restaurant and swimming pool area surrounded by thickets of bushveld. It leads out onto the acres of lush gardens creating a picturesque backdrop when dining or enjoying lazy days at the pool. The quaint town of Komatipoort is a minute drive away, providing easy access to alternative restaurants, shops and the Kambaku Golf Course with spectacular views of the Kruger National Park.

The famous Kruger National Park Crocodile Bridge Gate is a mere five-minute drive from the lodge and the sweet veld grasses of the southeastern Kruger National Park ensure that this is arguably the best game viewing area of the entire park; vast herds of plains game and predators alike are attracted to the spoils of this pristine area. Both Mozambique and Swaziland are a stone’s throw from the lodge, providing the ideal base from which to explore both exotic destinations.

We offer daily guided Kruger National Park safaris and day excursions to Mozambique and Swaziland. Fishing safaris on motorized boats are also available on request. The attention to detail and hands-on management style of this family-owned lodge ensure that Komati River Chalets is the ideal destination for the adventurous traveller.

Close to Kruger. Friendly staff. Basic and clean accommodation. Stayed close to entrance, noise level from trains during the night was very loud. Breakfast was nice.
