About River Hill Lodge

River Hill Lodge is a small private lodge located in a natural bushveld environment on the Komati River. The conference centre, bar lounge and swimming pool provide spectacular views of the Komati River, golf course and Kruger National Park. We offer our guests a brand of hospitality which we believe is special and unique in many ways.

The five Lodge Chalets are air-conditioned with upmarket furnishings, queen-size beds, twin beds, full bathrooms with Victorian-style slipper baths and under-cover wooden decks. These chalets are not self-catering but do have tea and coffee facilities and bar fridges.

The two Self-catering Chalets are along the same lines as the Lodge Chalets. These units are fully equipped and have three air-conditioned bedrooms. The main bedrooms are all equipped with queen-size beds, single beds and full en-suite bathrooms. The remaining two bedrooms are equipped with single beds and share the second bathroom. There are two extra beds in the lounge, which also offers DStv. Each unit has its own braai area.

The glass conference centre is nestled in the bush and it offers air-conditioning. It is fully equipped for up to 20 delegates. Meals are either served in the open or stone dining rooms. Larger groups can choose to have a braai in our boma where the night sky is your ceiling.

We offer professionally guided tiger fishing trips and tours to the Kruger National Park, Swaziland, Maputo and the escarpment; advance booking is essential. We can also arrange elephant rides, microlight flights, quad biking and horse riding.

Conference Venues: We have an air-conditioned glass conference venue in a bushveld environment with access to necessary conferencing facilities for up to 20 delegates.

We had a good stay at River Hill Lodge. We used the lodge as a stop over on the way through to Xai Xai in Mozambique. The staff, facilities and the chalet were excellent. The pub/lookout over the river is especially excellent. The only concern we had was the amount of noise experienced. The lodge is very close to both the main N4 road and the railway line between RSA and MOZ. Therefore the whole night one experiences a lot of road and railway noise due to all the truck and train traffic heading to and from the border.

The owners of River Hill Lodge are very welcoming and have provided very comfortable, well appointed rooms. The bar area and pool has a beautiful view over the river. The units are all situated on or very near a railway line, and are only 500m from the N4 highway, so traffic and train noise is quite substantial. We were in lodge/room 3 which has the Jojo tank situated just behind it, during the day one is not very aware of the pump noise or the filling of the Jojo, but at night, every time anyone in the resort uses water, there is a very distinct noise of water swooshing into the Jojo tank...

River Hill Lodge was one of the most welcoming accommodation visited by me and my hubby. We were overwhelmed by the hostility received. Big up to Carol and Richard keep it up guys. What a wonderful place they have. Peaceful and clean. Good break away from home.

We stayed over at the lodge on 20/12/2012 on the way to Mozambique and again on 4/01/2013 on the way back home and had a great experience on both occasions. The hospitality is fantastic and the rooms are excellent. Richard and Michelle really know how to put their guests at ease on their break during the long journey.
