Popular areas to stay in Hermanus

Most of visitors looking for accommodation in Hermanus prefer to stay either within the town of Hermanus or the nearby Gansbaai, which is popular for shark cage diving! Others choose places to stay across the Botrivier Lagoon in Kleinmond, a UNESCO biosphere, or inland in Caledon, the home of mineral-rich hot springs. Other popular areas are: Onrus, Franskraal, Betty’s Bay, Pringle Bay, places in Grabouw, and Stanford.

Consider getting accommodation outside of Hermanus! On the Botrivier Lagoon is Fisherhaven, which is where you will find an abundance of fauna and flora. On the other side of the Kogelberg Nature Reserve is Gordon’s Bay, a famous beach destination frequented by locals and travellers, especially in summer. Another place near the Kogelberg Nature Reserve is Rooi Els, a preferred spot for bird watchers. Close by, to the west is Sandbaai, where you can experience a more relaxed setting and a pretty beach. A short drive to the south of Hermanus is De Kelders, a coastal village which is also a great whale watching location. Head further south along the coast, and you’ll soon find Pearly Beach, home to the longest undisturbed beach in the Western Cape! Head north of Hermanus, inland, and you’ll be in Villiersdorp, a beautiful town close to the scenic Theewaterskloof Dam. Should you rather prefer a more inland location, northeast of Hermanus is the charming Genadendal, which sits wonderfully at the foot of the hills of the Riviersonderend Nature Reserve.

    Your choice of accommodation

For the ultimate in privacy, book a place with self-catering features, so that you’ll have an apartment and kitchen all to yourself! More often than not, you’ll get good value for money.

If you’d rather experience the pleasure of welcome hospitality, try the bed and breakfast options, hotels and guest houses in Hermanus.

Numerous places to stay include great features like swimming pools, fireplaces and Jacuzzis.

If on a budget, go camping in Hermanus to help you save cash to better enjoy the activities and attractions in and around the town.

Good luck finding your ideal accommodation in Hermanus!
