A hotel only for One night
Maria Daniela Samassa, Italy - 11 February 2017
The dinner is not too much good. I asked the good without milk, butter, cheese and lactosio and they gave me yogurt with fresh fruit!

This was a very pleasant stay. Very old world but with some modern trimmings. The place was very clean and the food was excellent - both dinner and breakfast.

Lovely place to stay. Very neat and tidy. The hosts are really nice people. We didn't book dinner but a delicious meal was prepared for us.

This is a really surprise place. You come out of nothing into this gem.

Everything so neat and tidy.

Will definitely stay again.

Just Wonderful!

What a wonderful gem in Namibia!

The management and staff was friendly and helpful and went the extra mile to ensure we were comfortable after a long journey.

Linen, rooms and bathrooms were spotless and beds were comfortable.

We also had a very interesting discussion about the history of Bethanie guest house and was shown the old well were horses used to drink water in the war!

A definate Must-Stop-Over when travelling through Namibia.

pleasant surprise

Wonderlike mense en baie lekker kos.

Personeel was so nice en het soos 'n klip geslaap op lekker bed.

So pleased we chose this place
Jim Pettitt, England - 03 December 2014
The location suited us and, with a tarmac road all the way from the main B road it was easy to get to. The hosts were very friendly, the room clean & spacious and the pool area lovely. We had a really great evening meal and breakfast was good, too. I guess the only thing some might not favour is a lack of air-con. It wasn't that hot anyway, despite the heat of the day and ceiling fan was more than sufficient.
Oasis after a long trip

A beautiful place to stay on our way back to South Africa. Very nice staff and very clean accommodation.
It's a lovely place but don't book the budget room
Simisha pather, South Africa - 07 September 2014
They don't call it the budget room for nothing. Bed is on concrete, carpets in the bathroom, broken doors etc. it's not a place you want to spend on holiday. Rather upgrade your room or use the camping facilities. Otherwise place is great!

Lodge very well situated between the desert and canyon. The owners are kind. The room very comfortable and calm. Dinner was good.
Comfortable rooms, good breakfast

Bethanie was a convenient stop heading back south after Sossusvlei. The grounds were very pleasant and the rooms comfortable. The only complaint was that as the only guests in this somewhat large guesthouse on that particular night, we did not always feel comfortable as the owners extended family including three young children took over the fireplace area before AND after dinner. It sometimes felt as if we were intruders in their family home. Also dinner was a set menu that we were given no choice in, simply served a plate and told it was their "traditional food". This was a problem for my somewhat picky husband. Breakfast however was substantial with lots of choice. If you are to stay here I would recommend a busier time of year when you might not feel so out of place with the family hanging about. They tell me June and July are their busy times.

Clean rooms with bathroom, no fridge. Nice dinner with main course and dessert, nice breakfast with fresh fruit, drinks and 2 eggs with sausages and bacon.

Great time
Casper Venter, South Africa - 25 September 2013
This is really good value for money! Although this is one of the oldest Hotels in Namibia, it is nicely renovated while still retaining a homely atmosphere. Beds are good quality with linen, bathroom and room neat and clean. Food is excellent with copious portions served. Service from owners and staff were very good. We will certainly use this place again and I can recommend it to even the most discerning traveller.
Very nice stay

A gem
Ashley George, South Africa - 09 April 2013
After a long drive from Windhoek we arrived at Bethanie to be greated by the owners and given the opportunity to choose our air conditioned room. We then proceeded into lovely garden/thatch area for an ice cold beer and a swim. The owners have lovingly restored the guesthouse which is warm and welcoming and if you enjoy antique furniture you will love browsing around the place. A very restful atmosphere and the food helpings are very generous and extremely tasty. The staff are full of smiles and nothing is too much trouble. This is a little gem not to be missed.
Good value for money

Good value for money for overnight stay - nothing else you can do.
A wonderful excuse to visit Bethanie
Kate MacIntyre, South Africa - 11 November 2011
Bethanie Guesthouse and Beer Garden is a delightful place to stay. We arrived dusty and weary from a long, hot journey on the road and were met with smiles, an air-conditioned room and a cold beer. The food was excellent, the staff in the kitchen work hard to create delicious meals with a strong South African flavour. Our room was comfortable and clean. Highly recommended.

Bethanie Guesthouse
Known as the very first hotel to be built in Namibia, Bethanie Guesthouse is situated at the center of all the tourist attractions in the south, like the breathtaking Fish River Canyon, the rocky shores of Luderitz, and Sossusvlei with its unforgettable sand dunes.

The guest house was originally built before 1880 and is therefore one of the oldest in Namibia. Bethanie is a small town with a rich historical background against the backdrop of beautiful mountains, breathtaking sunsets and starlit skies at night.

We offer fully furnished, en-suite rooms, seven of which are air-conditioned. Meals are enjoyed outside at the lapa restaurant area, with a bar where we serve home-cooked meals and open-fire dishes. There is a superb swimming pool available to guests if they feel the need to cool off. The guest house also has a tea/beer garden with a well-stocked bar and DStv.

Along with the many scenic trips one can make in the area, there are some more activities available such as quad biking, hiking, horse riding, 4x4-ing, and birdwatching.
