We loved the cabin, it’s family friendly in a perfect location with great views. It’s kept clean and the yard is very open and for the caretaker she’s a keeper, one in a million.

Carol , South Africa - Wednesday, 06 August 2014
Absolutely perfect. My friends/college mates and I went there to de-stress and get away from it all. And can I say, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. Bergview was really comfortable and clean and fully fully furnished. We were so happy that there were even extra blankets. Definitely a vacation to remember. We will be back soon.

Area information and activities

Underberg lies in the foothills of the mighty uKhahlamba-Drakensberg, a World Heritage Site, and is a typical rural farm town where dusty roads, pristine mountain streams and enormous sandstone backdrops have sculpted the rustic haven that is Underberg. The town features a grocery store (Spar) and general dealers, a butchery, hardware supplies, art and craft stores, a few restaurants, quaint pubs, clothing stores and a petrol station.

Summer days are very hot and winter is cold with snow. Anytime between these two extremes is an ideal time to visit, unless you are intent on building snowmen and sitting in front of a roaring fire. The suggested length of stay is a weekend minimum, but preferably a week to fully explore this beautiful region.

Main things to do in the area are Sani Pass and the Highest pub in Africa (we can arrange day trips as a 4 x 4 is required), fly fishing, walking or hiking trails, picnics, mountain biking, golfing, horse riding, river tubing, birding and bushman paintings. Visit Pucketty Farm stall for homemade breads, pies, jams, pickles, etc. For those with children Duck and Spoors has an animal farm and tea garden, and moms can visit Vanilla Rose (an exquisite gift, décor, clothing and accessories shop). Underberg Cheesery is a must for cheese lovers. Or explore local history, visit the historic town of Himeville and the museum. For the not so energetic you can book a spa treatment, or just relax and read a book! We do provide a detailed information booklet of recommended places to visit and things to do, too many to mention here.

Please note a minimum charge is applicable for groups less than six adults and does depend on the dates and length of stay.
