Great place in kakamas
Ernst Swart, South Africa - 04 January 2015
What a great place to stay. The view from the rustic bungalows cannot be beaten. If you want a 5 star venue then go and book at the Hilton, if you want 5 star views and hospitality then fee free to visit Khamkirri.

Was baie rustig, lekker gewees. Was net onder die indruk dat dit by Augrabies was.
We had a ball
hayley fortuin, South Africa - 10 January 2014
We had a ball @ Khamkirri the reception were great we received from Allen and his staff. Thumbs Up!! We explored the uniqueness of the North Cape and from the BRAVO & SIERRA TOUR GROUP we survive the heated NC. The river rafting was awesome and so refreshing so we will re-visit the province and it`s warmhearted people.

Sleeping in a luxury tent overlooking the Orange River, what an amazing experience it was!
Camping 2013 December

The bathrooms are in a state of despair and needs attention and needs to be kept clean at all time. Apart from the nice river tours the pace needs attention and the bath rooms are to small for all the visitors.
Beautiful position but camping facilities run down and shabby
Richard allen, South Africa - 24 December 2013
The facilities are shabby and run down, ladies showers not working properly. Had a good meal though. Could at least have fans and mosquito nets in tents. Weather was so hot could not sleep and even with mosquito repellent got carried away by the bugs. So unpleasant left at three o'clock in the morning as could not take the heat and the mosquito and bug bites. Setting is great and owners could do a lot more with the facilities to make them guest friendly and make them better with a few small changes as mentioned. Over priced for what you get...would not recommend.

We stayed at Khamkirri over the June long weekend. The venue location is excellent, with Augrabies a mere 20 minute drive (4*4 route), Kakamas and the orange rive wine route 15 minutes away and excellent fishing on your doorstep. (Caught nothing, but the vast array of promising spots kept me interested) Kids enjoyed mountain biking, game viewing, pool etc. Accommodation is adequate (family chalet), staff is friendly whilst surrounds is breathtaking in places. Good for birdwatching. On the negative side, some activities were not available (table tennis, quad biking.

Lovely setting, great river activities but grubby and overpriced
Lex von Rudloff, Botswana - 10 January 2013
The setting is superb and the range of activities is good. The tented accommodation is a bit tatty, the linen not quite fresh, the toilet block yukky and there are unprotected electrical extension cables with very dangerous connections (wrapped in plastic bags!!)draped across the lawn and between the tents. The food at the restaurant was uninspiring and my pork spare ribs had a funny smell and gave me 2 days of diarrhea. Compared to other accommodation used on our trip, this was definitely not value for money! P.S. I have pictures of the electrical cables if you want to see them.
Not up to standard
Hennie van Schalkwyk, South Africa - 07 January 2013
Facilities not up to standard.
Resta Eybers, South Africa - 10 January 2012
The Rustic Hut was very disappointing, dirty and extremely hot. It was not well equipped with cutlery and crockery. The unit did have a beautiful view of the Orange River which made up for the terrible accommodation.
Beautiful stay

The personal service, the good food, the awesome view deck next to the river - all this makes it an excellent place to relax. Need to stay several days to really enjoy.

We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the chalet set amongst the trees on the river bank, with plenty of birds and some small animals. Staff were very obliging to our requests for extra comforts, and the river guides friendly and easy-going. We are likely to return with the children for a more adventurous outing.

Khamkirri is a river facing accommodation facility and camp, located on the banks of the Orange River offering the thirsty traveller a lush oasis on the green northern banks, with breathtaking vistas of the water and surrounding red Kalahari.

The calm river, with the occasional rising fish, can be seen from our sunset deck that belies the excitement and adventure of the river rafting trips that we offer. On such trips, you will meet our rapids named Whiskey, the Big Eddie, and Rhino, and these will certainly get your adrenaline pumping in the company of our experienced guides. Alternately, you can just hang out on the deck overhanging the river and watch it glide slowly.

Our comfortable facilities provide an ideal stopover to visit other attractions in the area, such as the Augrabies Waterfalls National Park a mere 45 km drive away, Riemvasmaak Hot Springs, as well as other destinations such as the Richtersveld, Namaqualand, the West Coast and Namibia.

Khamkirri offers a range of accommodation options and activities for the outdoor adventurer. We offer rustic river huts as well as camping facilities with fully- equipped ablutions. They include toilets, showers and basins, hot water and electricity. Our abundance of wildlife that often rest in the shade of our Camel Thorn and Quiver trees, makes for a very memorable breakaway.
