We had a wonderful time. We were welcomed with open arms. We felt home. We had supper and enjoyed a few drinks at the bar with the locals. I would recommend any one to stay over there. Best of all, it's pet friendly! Next time I'll be taking my pets with.
Not what we expected

Decided not to stay over after booking in. Staff were very friendly but room was really not inviting and all guests make use of a communal bathroom, one for males and one for females. Smoking by some of staff in the bar, which is kind of the only place to sit and have something you drink was really bothering us. The bar could really benefit from a good dusting of all the interesting memorabilia.
Basic. Very basic

The pie and salad was good, but the rest was disappointing. You don't get what you don't pay for.

The review mislead us, and the ease with which boating/ water sport services were available was very disappointing. Most venues offering these services were for their own guests and we were turned away. Accommodation basic and price appropriate, breakfast OK. Staff friendly.

What a pleasant stay! We LOVED the cosy, crackling fire whilst watching World Cup Matches. This establishment is spotlessly clean and the hosts friendly. Even our pets were content and at home. We'll definitely visit again : )

We had a wonderfully entertaining evening in the bar with our host, Rod, who regaled us with stories from around the world. We arrived having had an accident with the car, Rod helped us put the incident behind us and was a tremendous help the next morning in getting the car roadworthy for our onward journey.
We hope to return some day...

Staying there was a good end to our holiday. Our family connected well with our hosts. There were very accommodating and sincerely intended for us to have a good stay. Being able to borrow the inflatable boat was appreciated.
The food was good.

Glasgow Pont Hotel
A real old Bo Karoo Hotel with a long bar, pillared verandah and a tin roof, just off the banks of the Orange River and four km's from the mighty Gariep Dam Wall and its 365,000 hectare fresh water lake.
"The" place for authentic Karoo Lamb country cooking - a regional speciality at the "Pont" since 1857!
Accommodation for most tastes and pockets ranges from back packer bunk to pet friendly family en-suite and everything in between. A real antidote to modern hotel "products" where fly fishermen, the travel weary, star gazers, sailors, motor bikers have already discovered a real oasis of friendly hospitality, great country cuisine and lots of Karoo capers to make every visit an adventure!
We hire out hobi cats sail boats for the Lake and rubber ducks for the Orange River as well as horse trail safari rides, Anglo Boer War battlefield walks and the best fly fishing spots to be found anywhere.
Just off the Johannesburg - Cape Town -Port Elizabeth arterial routes, Norval's Pont is located at the very centre of the RSA where the Eastern and Northern Cape Provinces meet the Free State at 1250 metres altitude under sparkling pollution free skies.
