Our first impression was that the gardens on the premises are lovely and our host, Pollie, was really helpful and kind.
Unfortunately the unit itself (Room 1) has a significant mould problem which is not helped by the carpet. The unit smelled of mould and damp. The smell also gave the impression that the rest of the unit was dirty, so I was not happy having my children in there.
We did arrive a bit early so they were rushed to get our unit ready, so I imagine that under normal circumstances the fridge would have been wiped out and the cigarette butts outside the entrance picked up,but all of this combined left a horrible impression especially since the rates at Oak Cottage are quite high compared to the other stunning places we stayed at in Knysna and Bloemfontein during this holiday.
I haven't seen the other units but I expect that this one has let the rest of the establishment down, which is a real pity.
