Lovely deck views over river
Tracy Carter, South Africa - 20 January 2014
The situation of the lodge is really beautiful, with stunning views over the river. However we had really bad weather with rain which made it unenjoyable. There was no cover over the deck in case of bad weather and our rooms weren't ready for over an hour and we wanted to relax after travelling. I did not like the fact that the lounge and dining room are part of the family home.

Very nice and tranquil however here some suggestions. A bar fridge in the room a must and preferably a TV and it would have been perfect.
Peaceful and friendly

Sue and Steve made us very welcome at Fish Eagles Lodge, and we had a most enjoyable stay. The position next to the river is beautiful, the rooms are well-appointed and comfortable, and there is a lot to see and do in the surrounding area. I only wish that we could have stayed for longer!

A very enjoyable stay and a very warm welcome from Sue and Steve. Had a superb braai meal with our hosts and convivial evening. The lodge is situated in a tranquil area overlooking the river.
Wish it was a longer stay
Carole Peat, United Kingdom - 28 January 2012
We stayed here for two nights and were sorry that our schedule didn't allow a longer stay. We were made to feel very much at home by our lovely hosts. Fish Eagles Lodge is excellent in every respect. The room was really lovely - made even better by small touches. We had a super evening meal and the breakfasts were first class. Sue and Steve arranged for us to go on a safari - nothing was too much trouble.
Lovely position, great breakfast, pleasant people

We enjoyed our stay on the Sunday River. The deck is a very pleasant place to drink some tea. Missed the fish eagle but saw the brown and flooded river. Good the building is high up! Sue does the best cooked breakfast in the world! She really does a good job with it. We hit a few balls on the putting green too - more practice needed!

Value for money

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this upmarket, good value for money Bed and Breakfast. It outshone all the others on our trip through the Eastern Cape to Knysna. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the room had lots of extra touches which made all the difference. We would recommend it without hesitation.

Very comfortable accommodation. Our hosts, Sue and Steve made us feel quite at home and were wonderful hosts. Wonderful breakfasts and suppers were enjoyed. Unfortunately the fish eagles were not around, but a marvelous place to unwind.
Awesome hospitality

Sue & Steve are both wonderful hosts - the hospitality is just awesome! They really made our anniversary a special one. Sue - both the breakfast & dinner were superb (top notch) as my grandad would say! Hello to Shani & Sheba... and best of luck to Sam with her studies. You'll be on the top of our list with our next stay at Addo. Thanks again for the special finishing touches... Warmest Regards, Calvin & Natalie - Port Elizabeth
A magnificent bed and breakfast

Fish Eagle lodge is a magnificent bed and breakfast, really well run by Sue and Steve. We were pampered for three days and really enjoyed out stay. Sue is a wonderful cook and we were really comfortable in their river facing rooms. We have no hesitation in recommending them to other visitors.

We would like to send a big thank you to Sue & Steve for the awesome time that we had at Fish Eagles Lodge. We were made to feel incredibly welcome and totally relaxed. We were sad to leave and hope to visit again soon in the not too distant future.

A lovely ranch-style house in a beautiful river-side setting with friendly and knowledgeable hosts. Located around 20 mins drive from Addo Elephant Park, Fish Eagles Lodge is a super spot in which to relax and take in the African experience. We enjoyed 2 delicious evening meals with our hosts (with dinner and wine being provided at very reasonable costs), plus excellent breakfasts, and our children had great fun. The comfortable bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms are stylishly furnished, and lead directly out onto the deck providing a practical and private environment. We had a great time. Don't miss sitting on the floating pontoon over the river - very special!
