Thank you to Jeremiah and TK for the amazing stay, overall the entire staff compliment were friendly and welcoming. We mostly had TK helping us and he was an absolute star and dealt with our craziness with a smile and giggle! Breakfast at the river was incredible, we couldn't have started our days any better! Our room was so cozy and clean. The entire establishment is so serene and was definitely what we needed for our little couple getaway. A place we won't hesitate to book into again.
Very underwhelming

Not what I expected. Very underwhelming
Hiking up the mountain and through the kloof with a nice guide.
Ria Pieterse - Saturday, 17 July 2021
After evenings with a book on my blanket-covered lap in front of beautiful fireplaces, I retired to a beautiful, warm four poster bed. Breakfast was served with old world charm. The nature hike was relaxing and uplifting. Staff are very attentive and caring.

La Provence de Afrique, for a tranquil romantic weekend getaway
Karel Robinson - Sunday, 04 April 2021
Thumbs up to Jeremiah and team, for excellent customer service. As well as The forest spa's for the hot stone massages. Compliments to the chef and team, for the delicious foods served. La Provence de Afrique proved to be a tranquil and romantic place with treasures from France, among several beautiful sculptures adding to the magnificent ambiance of La Provence. I would at any time recommend a visit to La Provence de afrique.
A Wonderful Experience!!
Joanne Bainbridge - Monday, 29 March 2021
My second visit to La Provence, and still such a truly amazing and unique experience. Marguerite and her staff are exceptional, food to die for, set among such breathtaking scenery. I could not recommend this place enough! Card facilities would be appreciated though.
Very Unique
Mellis Walker - Saturday, 05 October 2019
Really enjoyed our stay. The staff are great and very professional. The establishment is very unique and won't appeal to everyone. Some improvement in general cleanliness in the rooms is needed, but can be difficult to achieve with the amount of ornaments and decor in the rooms which contributes to the look and feel of the whole place.
Breakfast by the river
Steve Calder - Thursday, 15 August 2019
Jerimiah and team went out of their way to ensure an enjoyable stay. Top marks for the team. The meals were excellent but the dinner menu repeated after two days so we had to go eat out on the third night. Even for winter the garden needs attention.
Special weekend La Provence
Lindy Brest - Tuesday, 23 October 2018
We had the most wonderful stay at La Provence, celebrating my husbands 60th. We have full praise for the accommodation, food and atmosphere, but to top it off was Marguerite , Jeremiah and the rest of the amazing team who made us feel so special with their personalized attention and willingness to please and accommodate us throughout our stay,eg. with meal requirements. You were all very appreciated in making our stay so special. Thankyou.
The theme is delightful and we enjoyed the walk with our guide Innocent.
Mary Hutchison - Sunday, 18 March 2018
The place kept to its promise of Provence. However, there were a few snags. The shower in one room that we occupied does not drain the water out. The drain is not fitted properly and the water simply sat at the bottom of the bath located under the shower. This is certainly not in line with good hygiene and customer service. The locking mechanism for the door to the honeymoon suite did not work. A new lock was put in, but this did not work either. The site advertised an outside pool, but the only pool was the one at the spa which could only be used if no clients were using the spa facilities. The gardens are beautiful and the forest walk was super.
Perfect romantic getaway

The place is really perfect for a romantic getaway, peaceful and very relaxing
BEAUTIFUL
Sheila - Monday, 04 September 2017
As it was our 40th wedding anniversary, I was looking for a weekend away that was different. And different it was.
The place is beautiful and the rooms are decorated perfectly to give it the french feel. Our weekend was fantastic. The staff at La Provence DAfrique are excellent, and always willing to assist with anything. Jeremia was an excellent manager and was always on hand ready to assist. We will definitely recommend it to family and friends
Amazing Stay
Nthabiseng - Monday, 17 July 2017
We had a great time. The highlight of our stay was sitting outside by the river having breakfast in the morning. The hospitality was awesome, staff was extremely friendly and made us feel at home. Definitely going back again.

Heavenly
Chantel - Monday, 30 May 2016
We had an absolutely heavenly stay. La Provence is such a beautiful and unique place, the decor is so different and quirky, I loved it. The rooms are so spacious and cosy, and with the high ceilings really amazing. There is a very relaxed feel about the establishment and it was also so romantic. We enjoyed the massages by the river side, it felt like you u right on the river. The food was really lovely, the \dinner basket” was a different experience but it was wonderful. We loved everything about our stay."

Never again - not even a 1 star
Andre Hofmeyr, South Africa - Sunday, 03 January 2016
We arrived finding that there was no wardrobe to put our clothes. We were then moved to a room that had not been cleaned since when ever. We paid for a 3 course dinner basket and was given a cheese platter
Booked a Zen treatment - no picnic lunch or champagne. We left a day early
No wonder we were the only booking the other couple was passing by and stopped there as all other accommodation was fully booked
The best place to celebrate a special occasion
zelmine - Tuesday, 18 August 2015
I made the booking at La Provence for my friend and her sister. As I have been there before I knew it would be so special for them. Now they cant stop talking about the place. Thank you for making it the best experience!

Romantic getaway in Magaliesberg
Mr Hunter - Monday, 23 March 2015
La Provence in Magaliesberg is an ideal getaway from the hustle and bustle of the Corporate environment. This establishment offers you and your partner an opportunity to relax, unwind and breathe in the fresh air of the Magaliesberg. Excellent, comfortable rooms and a feeling of a French affair. Breakfast at the river side is perfect.
Relaxed and revitalising

La Provence dAfrique sets a very high level of service standards. They’re very attentive to your needs. Thank you for accommodating us.
Spoiled romantic weekend
Denver Mudie, South Africa - Wednesday, 30 October 2013
We had booked for a romantic weekend away, which was unfortunately spoiled by a number if issues, the biggest being the conference party booked into the rooms along side ours. A loud party of ladies kept us up well past 11pm on both evenings with their laughing and talking and were up before 7 each day. Their talking in the adjacent rooms was so loud we could hear the entire conversation. The evening we arrived, we waited 20 minutes in the dining area before anyone came to attend to us and there was no-one around for us to say we were ready to eat. There was no cutlery in the room to make coffee in the mornings. We purposefully went out on the morning to allow housekeeping to clean our room but were told that we had the only key to the room so it wasn't possible to have the room cleaned. We wanted to have a cheese platter served in our room on Saturday afternoon and was told that it wasn't possible and we would have to have it down by the river. And there are no card facilities?? These might all seem like really small issues but they spoiled the weekend for us.

Establishment's response

UNFORTUNATELY one sometimes just get such loud guests that have no respect for other and those are unfortunate when you have group bookings, we did try to chat to them.

Cheese platters are recommended to have down by the river as it is soo beautiful and tranquil, can lie down there on the grass with blankets—but I am sure that my manager did not refuse to serve it in their room? — It was just an alternative suggestion?

We have had guests going home with keys so it was, BAD TIMING that we did not have a spare key not so easy to have those made up in a day in the country.

A teaspoon could have quickly been taken to their room.

THERE is a lovely pub area where everyone can have drinks before shown to their room/ suite.

NOTHING MENTIONED about the beautiful setting and décor.

Great stay
Eduan Hattingh, South Africa - Monday, 30 September 2013

Magical Land
Caroline Lavers, South Africa - Wednesday, 18 September 2013
Spectacular, Magical a real getaway from the 'norm' - I found La Provence reasonably priced. The staff where very friendly warm and helpful although I think they could use a few extra hands. I recommend this exquisite place. Anyone who liked the movie Lord of the Rings and appreciates art and beauty, a true time warp into mystery and fantasy land.
A little bit of France in Magalies
- Sunday, 15 September 2013
One of the best places I think I have ever stayed it. The food was amazing and the staff were all so pleasant and always helpful. The scenery was so breathtaking and it felt more like home than being away from home. The French inspiration made it extremely romantic. We will definitely return and recommend it to our friends. Thank you for the fairytale.
Superb!
Sarah Wilson, South Africa - Monday, 19 August 2013
I would definitely recommend La Provence to anybody wanting a relaxing and romantic getaway. The staff are incredible, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was delightful and relaxing. From picnic style dinners in the "street cafe" to breakfasts by the river, cheese platters for lunch and a drink at the local "pub" - our mini holiday felt like we were in the south of France, right in the middle of Magaliesberg! We look forward to returning again soon.
Overpriced
Derek Radue, South Africa - Monday, 22 July 2013
Lovely weekend but completely overpriced.
Never again
michelle du plessis, South Africa - Monday, 15 July 2013
Having stayed in various b&b's throughout the country I must say this was by far the worst for the price. The setting was very pretty and the rooms and beds nice and warm on a cold winters night but that was where it ended. There was nowhere in the room to hang one's clothing properly (hooks on a door don't count) so we had to dress out of our suitcase. Then the toilet lid was off and laying behind the bath. The bath itself is a unique old ball&claw type bath but then one spends ages just trying to remove the plug once you've finished bathing. Dinner at Goblins Cove was also a huge disappointment. They had a party of about 8 young people who were so incredibly noisy that we could barely ourselves speaking. The noise continued throughout our meal and ended about 5 minutes before we paid our bill. As common practice would be to settle our bill by either EFT or swiping our credit card, we were disappointed when Jeremiah told us we had to settle in cash! I then sent Margeritte an sms to verify that we'd be able to do an EFT the following morning which she suggested would be fine. Well!! At breakfast we were brought our bill which I then took up to the office to pay. Only then was I told they have no internet facilities so I would need to settle in cash!! Who carries in excess of R4000 cash around in this day and age?? Needless to say, we paid in cash but were not happy to do so as we then had drawn our maximum for the day and were left with no cash for our travel home. ***** the best part of our stay was the full body massages we received.
Exceptional
Michael Mann, South Africa - Wednesday, 10 July 2013
I am involved in the National Grading system and 3 Stars just does not do it justice. The rooms are exquisite, service is top notch, food is outstanding and attention to detail is 2nd to none. We were fortunate enough to be the only guests, which for our honeymoon, was extra special; albeit surprising. I travel this great country for a living and stay in all sorts of places, La Provence D'Afrique is one of the best value for money experiences you can get.
Fantastic stay
Amanda Baxter, South Africa - Tuesday, 07 May 2013
Jeremiah is a fantastic host and looked after us very well!! The atmosphere is peaceful and tranquil, a little bit of heaven. Our room was beautiful and the finishing touches make all the difference!! It was lovely to curl up in front of the fireplace on the chilly evenings! Thanks again for the hospitality and delicious meals!
More than we expected

Very unique

La Provence d' Afrique
Kirsty Pelger, South Africa - Tuesday, 10 July 2012
We loved the suite that we occupied and breakfast was delicious. Jeremiah was an absolute star as a manager. The cleaning staff were naughty, leaving milk for us to drink that was about to go sour and not giving us dry towels. Jeremiah was kind enough to sort the milk out and refill our cookie jar. The dessert on Friday night was not nice - R25 for hot chocolate is also a bit steep because it was really not worth it. Other than all of that, we really enjoyed our stay. The food at Goblins Cove was delicious and the service there was great. We would return for a few nights again.
Brilliant
dawid de klerk, South Africa - Monday, 09 July 2012
It was one of the best places we been to. Its a must go and see. Thank you so much for every thing, will go back there in a hartbeat.
Stay at La Provence
darryl leibowitz, South Africa - Sunday, 08 April 2012
Rooms excellent, service excellent and dinner and breakfast was great. The only problem was that the rooms were close to the road, so a bit noisy. Beautiful gardens and setting.
Very nice
