Delightful venue. Comfy beds, 5 star breakfast, really peaceful surroundings.
A perfect little haven

We enjoyed a two night stay at this well run and immaculately maintained guesthouse. Lorna's hospitality and the generous breakfasts really added to the delight of being in a country village.

Nice and very clean. Beware, the blue room is smallish, no aircon and not ensuite.

Establishment Response:

I would point out that the very large Front Room, en-suite and with a balcony overlooking the garden was available when Diana made her booking for the smaller and cheaper Blue Room. The Front Room currently costs R900 per night and the Blue Room costs R100 less at R800 per night. Both rates are inclusive of breakfast which I have been advised by other guests as being ‘very cheap’!!

I have deliberately not installed Aircon in the property as it uses a lot of electricity and my decision not to do so was partly influenced by the problems encountered with the electricity supply in South Africa as well as environmental concerns which we try to address at Peace Valley - having installed 1 solar geyser and 1 heat pump in the last few years and make use of the grey water to irrigate part of the garden. We are actively encouraged to operate with environmental considerations in mind.
Good

Lorna was wonderful. We had a very brief but memorable stay with her and we will certainly take up her offer of a coffee or glass of wine when next we are passing through Napier. Thank you Lorna for your friendly breakfast chat.
Great Stay but Support Local

Great stay, everything in place and clean - no complaints. Sadly, at breakfast, we found no local produce.  Dischem honey and WW preserve I can buy all around Joburg, however, raw Fynbos honey I cannot. Think about supporting local trade.
Peace and Tranquility at Peace Valley
Penny Hinde, South Africa - Monday, 06 October 2008
We had a truly wonderful stay. As a family of 2 couples, a grandma and 2 little children, we fitted very comfortably into the Peace Valley home. It is beautifully decorated with some lovely little luxurious touches, which made us feel very pampered. The grounds are gorgeous and it is an absolute treat to walk around them - or find a peaceful spot to read a book. The kiddies loved all the farm animals and the very friendly labradors! For a break away from it all, it really is the perfect spot. next time my partner and I will choose it for a romantic get away! Lorna is an easy, friendly hostess, she will make sure that you are comfortable and happy. Ten out of Ten!

The two large dams directly in front of the main house are frequented by various waterfowl who will entertain you for hours with their endless games. Geese, an Ibis and a pair of Hadida are regular visitors to the dams where you will often find the two Labradors, Lex and Chelsea, taking their daily swim. A family of Guinea Fowl has adopted the garden and surrounds as their home and an otter has been sighted several times visiting the dams with the occasional Water Mongoose as well.
