Friendly staff
Marinda Bohnsack - Tuesday, 03 September 2019
We booked 2 luxury tents together. They were far apart and we had to downgrade to a standard to be together. Although this was comfortable enough, we were overcharged on our invoice by R612.00
AMAZING

Beautiful Phophonyane
Adri van der Watt - Monday, 08 October 2018
Unfortunately we only stayed one night en route from iSimangaliso to Gauteng. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The garden is beautiful and the accommodation and restaurant is full of character. Breakfast was delightful. The walk back from the falls is a bit steep but worth the effort.

Phophonyane is an excellent place to escape to! A lush rainforest tucked away next to the stunning waterfall.
Peaceful
Bekiwe Peppetta - Thursday, 22 June 2017
Lovely place. The most wonderful staff and food. The only downside would be that the stairs (really more of a ladder-type set-up) in the two-level cottages are not toddler friendly. Great place otherwise.
Full nature
Simonne de Doncker, Belgium - Wednesday, 25 May 2016
Nice place to relax and enjoy nature.
Beautiful but expensive
Kobus Grobler, South Africa - Saturday, 02 April 2016
Phophonyane is a beautiful place and the gardens are heavenly. We do however feel that the price of accommodation is quite steep for South Africans.

What a pity we could only manage one night. Friendly staff, great food, relaxing atmosphere in amongst nature with wonderful views.

Breathtaking scenery, a paradise. Excellent accommodation and sumptuous meals coupled with quality service and friendly staff makes a visit to this facility a defenitive must.
Wonderful location for a family holiday
Marike Noordhoek, Mozambique - Wednesday, 09 April 2014
The lodge is located in a beautiful area with well maintained hiking trails in the surroundings of a waterfall. The house (cottage 2) is very private and has a wonderful bedroom upstairs with views to all sides of the green garden. The restaurant and outside terrace are well furnished and located. A television room is available for the children. A wonderful family location in Swaziland!
Wonderful stay
Cora Beckerbauer, Germany - Thursday, 04 October 2012
We only stayed at Phophoyane for one night, but it was a great stay. the staff was very friendly, the food delicious and the accommodation beautiful. We stayed in one of the tents and we had a great view! I would recommend to stay more than just one night. That really was too short!
Heaven on Earth
Louise Visser, South Africa - Monday, 12 March 2012
As my husband said, if heaven on earth existed, then Phophonyane Falls would be it. Beautiful surroundings, friendly service and great food! Thanks to Rod and his team for a memorable weekend.
Stunning place

Wonderful location, great customer service, ideal accommodation, but food in the restaurant has room for improvement.
Lovely

It was a lovely, relaxing weekend.
Lovely place in a lovely country
Anonymous, South Africa - Monday, 29 November 2010
We were on a three day two night tour of Swaziland, and were very impressed by the country and the Lodge. The latter being in a wonderful setting, with friendly helpful staff and good meals. I somehow wasn't aware ahead of time of the dirt road in from the highway, but managed it fine with a low slung car. The owner is a fascinating man with a world ranging background and a complete knowledge of local ecology, politics, and economics. We'll be back.
Perfect Phophonyane Falls
Celine de Canha, South Africa - Wednesday, 20 October 2010
We had the most enjoyable and relaxing stay at Phophonyane Falls. The scenery was magical, the staff were warm, intuitive and friendly. I highly recommend Phophonyane Falls Lodge if you are looking for a peaceful and tranquil getaway.
Phophonyane Falls Lodge

Lovely location. Communal lounge/ dining room is very attractive with interesting African art and objects. Felt the downstairs room in our cottage and bathroom were ready for refurbishment. Food good but bizarre system of ordering dinner before 5pm and then being told it couldn't be served until 8pm which was too late for our hungry children.
Super relaxing

Lovely peaceful place
Lesley Fysh, South Africa - Sunday, 20 September 2009
The nature reserve is lovely and the accommodation also. We stayed 3 nights in cottage 3 which is a self catering unit. The location of this is great with a private terrace and garden. Would particularly recommend the reserve to people interested in walking and looking at plants and birds.

Thank you - we will definitely return to Phophonyane Falls. It is a lovely place and the food is great as well. The Beehives are wonderful to stay on and there is lovely trails to go and explore nature. It is worth the price.

Very relaxing, good friendly service in a lovely setting Don't recommend the longer trails if you are not fit and don't enjoy climbs.

BEST BREAKAWAY
nastasya lombaard, South Africa - Friday, 29 December 2006
One of those 'must experience' places. Secluded enough to cut out everyday commercial rush, but close enough to attractions(including its own) to make a holiday out of it. Beautiful setting and falls a must see. The lodge blends in with natural bush(forest!) and accommodation spaced to give optimum privacy. A real soul balming experience!

Phophonyane Falls Lodge & Nature Reserve
Phophonyane Falls Lodge, Swaziland's own unique hideaway is quietly tucked away in its own 500 ha nature reserve in a place of legendary romance and breathtaking natural surroundings. The Phophonyane River runs through the reserve in a series of waterfalls and cascades with the sound of running water providing an ever present sense of calm at the lodge.

A network of walkways lead one from the accommodation through water gardens which merge with the rivers edge onto a spectacular display of one of the world's oldest rock formations (3.6 billion years). The walking trails network within the reserve takes you through the riverine forest interspersed with viewpoints some of which command a view of the majestic Makhonjwa and Gobolondlo Mountain ranges and the Ntfonjeni valley.

The Phophonyane Nature Reserve is home to small mammals such as red duiker, Cape clawless otter, bush buck and a remarkable 230 bird species including the elusive Narina Trogon, purple crested lourie and the wood owl.

Guests at Phophonyane are guaranteed a high level of privacy and personal service. The 26 bed lodge offers accommodation in safari tents, family cottages, luxury beehives and a honeymoon suite, with some self-catering units. Each unit is individually woven into the lush fabric of tall sub-tropical forest. All meals can be enjoyed at the lodge’s renowned and stylishly furnished restaurant, where healthy home-cooked meals and fine wines are a feature. On cool winter nights, a roaring log fire lulls the senses and warms the heart.

Secluded viewing decks, refreshing natural rock pools, and a stunning hilltop swimming pool with views to the distant horizon are further enticing characteristics. Other facilities include a small library, internet room and TV room with DSTV. Phophonyane has one of the most attractive and best stocked crafts shops in Swaziland.

Our guests always comment on the quality and warmth of our team of friendly Swazi staff.
