Over and above the excellent staff the food was affordable and good. The fireplace in the room and the fact that it was serviced by the staff made our stay very pleasant. The hot water system for the shower does however need attention in this cold environment

We did not have any water since we arrived there at 17:00 the afternoon until we left the next morning, earlier than planned, just to get out of there. As did other two groups of guests. Bringing it to the attention of the person in charge was no use as I was just told that the water was frozen. No attempt was made to make some kind of plan. Only the next morning did the lady fetched water from the river in a bucket, but by that time we were already on our way. Surely an establishment should know that water in pipes (that was just laid on top of the ground), would freeze when it is that cold...

Arriving at the lodge after a long day of travelling through from Maseru, the welcolme reception we got from the 3 staff members on duty was overwhelming. The accommodation exceeded our expectations by far.

There was some miss communication from this place as when I booked I was told there was only a rondavel left. When I arrived the lodge keeper did not even know we were coming. We were the only guests there. At 1st there was a water problem. It got fixed eventually, but there was no hot water. The keeper, Bernard must have overslept this morning and did not make fire early for hot water. When we start packing he only appeared and made fire. Really very costly for the limited facilities. Also what I paid and what the keeper rates are, is diffrent.

Hi, we did not actually stay at St James Lodge, although the booking was made for that. We stayed at the Sani Stone Lodge which is sister to St James lodge. The group was disappointed as were not informed that their was no power ( although we did not mind), there was hardly any water and the one rondavel the gas did not want to work so the couple who stayed there was not very impressed. Overall we enjoyed the experience, but a bit more information could have been given seeing that we could not stay at St James Lodge.
