Wood is for sales at R25 per bag.

There is a large front garden where children can safely play while the adults enjoy relaxing on the patio.

Mention the town of Sutherland and most people will know that this is the place to look into outer space as it is filled with clear and dark night skies. Sutherland is one of the coldest towns in the country with frequent snow falls during winter. It is truly a beautiful sight to witness the looming Roggeveld Mountains bedecked in snow.

We only stayed one night but was very impressed with the accommodation.  The house is beautiful and full of character and the gardens well maintained.  Well positioned.  The house is extremely neat and well appointed with attention to detail.  The kitchen is fully equipped and we enjoyed using the indoor braai room (which would be a very welcome fireplace room in winter).  The beds and linen high quality and very comfortable. Would love to stay there again for longer.  Highly recommended!!

What a lovely spacious and quiet place to stay.  We were a group of 4, staying in a huge house that can sleep up to 12, so there was plenty of space.Everything we needed was provided.A few small things do need a handyman to do some DIY on and some of the lounge chairs weren't very comfortable (though the braai room ones were). Our teens loved their double beds and pillows and wanted to take them home with us - I'll stick to my own at home though! We went in January and due to cloud cover, especially in the evening, we didn't see one star - however, the huge verandah was a great place to sit and...

My husband and I did a road trip from Richards Bay via Bloemfontein to Sutherland and back home via the Garden Route and Blydevooruitsig Gastehius was THE best by far.It was clean, comfortable and all the necessities you can think off. Thank you for this gem.My whole experience in this place was amazing.Including the star gazing. We ate the best Karoo lamb ever.We will definitely stay here again .

Whenever you expect something and you get more than what you expected, you are happy. This happened in Sutherland - I expected extreme cold weather and I got more. Not so sure if I was so happy about that, but I wanted to go to Sutherland by motorbike in winter to experience the cold. I have been planning this for years with my friend Henning, we did! His brief to me was to get a place were we can make lots of fire, drink red wine and be comfortable. My expectations were very high of the place I wanted. I looked at the available places on SafariNow and this caught my eye.I booked and got the...

We are very proud to present the Louw-Museum in Sutherland, home of both NP van Wyk Louw and WEG Louw. NP van Wyk Louw, born on 11 June 1906 in Sutherland, was an Afrikaans-language poet, playwright, and scholar. He is the older brother of...
