About Witkrans Lodge

Witkrans Lodge is situated on a working sheep farm, 12 km from Middelburg in the tranquil Karoo. There is one cottage with two en-suite bedrooms, which is fully equipped. There are garages as well as braai facilities with wood and braai packs available. The cottage is pet- and wheelchair friendly.

Middelburg lies in the middle of the Karoo, surrounded by mountains in an area recognized for its prolific and naturally occurring herbal plant life. Just outside Middelburg lies the Karoo National Park, probably one of the main attractions to this part of the world and a wonderful example of how life has adapted to survive harsh weather conditions.

Surrounded by the Nuweveld Mountains, the park is home to black rhino and buffalo, the Cape mountain zebra and over 20 breeding pairs of black eagle. There are some wonderful examples of succulent plants and small reptiles as well, and a bird hide that is worth an early morning and evening visit. The skies are filled with stars at night and Middelburg has surrounding waterfalls and streams that provide the town with its water.

Witkrans is well equipped with everything needed for an overnight self-catering stay. We appreciated the quiet farm seting.

I had a very difficult personal problem and Milda and Piet went out of their way to assist me. Truly wonderful people. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped and the peace and quiet of the farm was balm for the soul. I recommend Witkrans Lodge without any reservation.

We had a very comfortable stay at Witkrans - every need was catered for in the cozy units. The staff were very friendly and even took our toddler out to see the sheep in the morning. Excellent value for money and highly recommended!
