About Valley of The Rainbow

Valley of The Rainbow is located in a private nature reserve in a secluded valley surrounded by mountains, approximately 20 km from Dullstroom and only two hours’ drive from Johannesburg. The estate is in a malaria and bilharzia-free area, with a mild climate, and guests can experience fly-fishing in rivers and lakes surrounded by indigenous forests.

The Manor House offers five luxurious bedrooms, each with own sitting area and en-suite bathroom. Guests can relax in the lounge with bar, furnished with exquisite furniture. The Country House is decorated in a classic country style and offers five en-suite bedrooms opening onto a veranda, while the Tent Chalets are permanently fixed on wooden decks and situated in an indigenous forest overlooking one of the lakes in the valley. Each tent provides sleeping for up to four guests and also features an en-suite bathroom.

Guests can participate in organized outdoor activities, including fly-fishing in the river and lakes for the elusive rainbow and brown trout, shooting, horse riding and canoeing. Non-fishing guests will appreciate the tranquility and natural beauty of the setting. The mountains invite guests to go wandering along the walking trails on which one can expect to find a variety of small game including Grey duiker, Steenbuck, Grey reebok and vervet monkey, over 200 species of birds, and an abundance of wild flowers and plants.

What can be improved is pricing communication. I was disappointed when I looked through the info manual that it says the rate is R750/day. I thought I had got a special discounted rate from yourselves, and yet I paid more than 20% of the going rate.On enquiring when I checked out (and I paid the rate I was quoted at the time of booking) I was given an unsatisfactory answer of weekend rates. The point is this is not specifically stated anywhere that the R750 excludes weekends.Otherwise a great place. I'll go back and recommend it to others

We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed in one of the log cabins - beautifull, well maintained, value for money. Very private. The trout dams is clean, well looked after but the weather was against us.... We saw a few big ones but not even one bite. This farm is beautiful with lovely hiking trails and Shaun was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return.PS. They just need to look at security. It is very secluded, no cellphone reception and there is no access control or other security......
