About The Farm House - Matopos

In 1996 the original Farm Homestead was converted into a Restaurant, bar and lodge reception. Now known as The Farmhouse , it is located

48Kms from Bulawayo on the Matopos road, in the heart of the Matopos World Heritage site.

The restaurant veranda overlooks the indigenous garden and rock swimming pool, where guests can relax by the poolside or spend the evening around the open campfire in the enclosed traditional boma. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served in the restaurant, where our chefs specialize in healthy, home cooked meals. On somedays we we offer a Braai dinner. Enjoy food cooked on an open fire whilst sitting outdoors on a warm evening under the stars.

Guests are accommodated in 12 thatched, Cape Dutch style cottages, which are built on the fringe of a majestic granite outcrop. Each individual cottage has a twin bedded, bedroom, en-suite shower, toilet and wash-hand basin, open plan lounge with tea/coffee facilities and fridge.

The Farmhouse Lodge and Restaurant provides the ideal location from which visitors can discover the many natural wonders of the Matopos. Guests can participate in the many activities offered at the Lodge or arrange their own trips in the area.

We had 2 pleasant days /nights at the Farm House, which is a very nice and cozy place. The atmosphere is quite relaxed (and in that sense really a "Farmhouse"), and the owner (Karen and her husband) as well as the personnel are extremely nice and make you feel very wellcome and home. The Matopos NP is so special that you have to experience it, first of all because of the nature and shape of the landscape - you don't find a similar place elsewhere.Henrik, Denmark

The place was good and clean.we enjoyed the stay Bt we did not view the animals which was what we were expecting to see.yhe drive was short compared to the half day we were told about when doing bookings.the food was excellent and we enjoyed it.the staff some were very good including the old man who was ac chef and the man who was driving us around.I give them bells.Kyle was also welcoming.what I did not like is the other staff gossiping about the clients.we were listening Bt we acted as if we heard nothing.maybe in future we will come again.

What a beautiful place to stay! We only used it as an overnight stay, but I will recommend that you spend 2 nights here. With Matopos nearby you need half a day to explore. The chalets are nicely set, food was excellent and staff friendly. Very good value for money!

A quiet and relaxing venue for our 5 night stay. John and Alison Burton were perfect hosts and attended to our every need. Accommodation was neat and clean and the meals excellent, scenery astounding and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. We would definitely go back. Thanks to our hosts for such a pleasant stay.
