About The Cock House
Built in 1826, this charming Victorian home has been lovingly restored and is a declared National Monument. Accommodation consists of nine double en-suite rooms and four spacious two-bedroom apartments with kitchens, lounges and dining areas.
The warm and welcoming main house features a cosy pub, a lounge/library and Norden's Restaurant. Norden's is renowned for its innovative menu offering delicious South African cuisine, complemented by an excellent wine selection.
Since opening in 1991, many guests have returned to the convivial atmosphere of The Cock House, including President Nelson Mandela on three occasions. We are centrally located to explore the historic Grahamstown, South Africa's festival city and home to Rhodes University and many prominent schools.
Linking the Garden Route and the Wild Coast, a two to three night stay is recommended to enjoy Frontier Country, the Sunshine Coast and nearby game reserves such as Addo Elephant National Park.
