Anker Guesthouse is situated in Philippolis, a small community, which is safe to walk around whenever you feel like it. Going through Philippolis is 17 km shorter than the N1 and situated between Colesberg and Trompsburg. Philippolis is a lovely small town for those who want to escape from the city for a few days - Enjoy silence, closeness to nature, stargazing, bird watching, no traffic, old-fashioned tranquility and friendliness in this beautiful Free State town.

So on your adventure to your destination, we welcome you to stop halfway at our guesthouse. We are the center to most journeys, and a pit stop to rest your eyes.

                      The accommodation is definitely geared for an overnight stay. It was clean and sufficient. However, perhaps some braai tongs & a braai bak would be helpful. Unfortunately the pool was empty and the light in the kitchen needed replacing. Don't expect luxury but accommodation is good value for money.

                      Thank you. We arrived and were given a choice of rooms, unfortunately the room we chose could have done with blinds/curtains on the one window that the sun blasts through, but apart from the sunny wake up, it was a pleasant stop over in Philopolis. Very friendly and helpful hostess. Will recommend The Anker.

                      After a very long 10 hour drive from the Eastern Cape, it was a pleasure to spend the night at The Anker. The hosts were very accommodating in my late arrival and also provided us with additional blankets when they noted how cold I was. We were very warm and comfortable in our room and we won't hesitate to return to The Anker!
