About Struwig Eco Reserve
Welcome to Struwig Eco Reserve, a special place in the heart of the African bushveld.
The reserve has seven thatch roofed self-catering chalets and a large thatch roofed dormitory for large groups. Accommodation is modern, comfortable and cleaned daily. Towels are not provided. The rate includes a two hour game drive as well as a bundle of wood per unit. Catering is also available on request. No shop on site and the closest town is Hoedspruit (40km). We have a superb central lapa equipped with a braai area and full views across the Olifants River. The river is lit during evenings and often animal activity can be observed while enjoying a braai. Hear the lion roar, hiena laugh and hippo “talking” at night around the camp. Our experienced guides will take you on game drives where you can see animals such as lion, leopard, rhino, giraffe and elephant. The more adventurous can go for a walk with an armed guide to meet the animals in their own world, and also experience the smaller wonders of creation.Keen for some birdwatching, then Struwig is the spot. One can view fish eagles, puffback, kingfishers, waxbills, waders and if you are fortunate, the pells fishing owl.Struwig is a private reserve which gives us exclusive use of our property and that of our neighbouring reserves. This unique setting promises the peace and tranquility which public reserves cannot provide. We invite you to come and have a unique experience in a place where Africa lives wild. Enter from Hoedspruit via a 40km dirt road in the Game Reserve. No GPS for directions must be used.
The reserve is part of an area of more than two million hectares where Africa’s wild animals, including the Big 5, hippopotamus and crocodile, roam freely in their habitat. Our chalets are situated on the bank of the Olifants River enabling our visitors to spend hours watching game from the luxury of the visitors area, while having a braai or just relaxing with friends.
Safari: A free 2 hour game drive is included in the self-catering chalets per night booked. Sightings cannot be promised.
Conference Venues: A conference room is available for meetings. It is equipped with Wi-Fi (on request only). These facilities must be booked in advance before arrival with the reservations department.
Covid Safety Approved: We pledge to implement a high standard of hygiene and cleaning protocols to ensure the safest environment possible for our guests. We adhere to the industry safety protocols set out by the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA).
