About Samhitakasha - The Cob House

Welcome to a unique setting.

The Cob House is a beautiful family home built mostly out of natural and organic materials such as clay, straw, wood and lots of love.

Our guest accommodation includes the ChicShak, an open plan self catering space, with queen sized bed, table and chairs, kitchenette, breakfast nook and en-suite bathroom, ideal for a couple.

We also offer a separate guest room with a queen-size bed and single futon/couch, and en-suite shower/toilet. Linen, curtains, mattresses and towels have all been made from natural and organic or recycled materials, wherever possible. There is private access to the garden.

The house is situated 200 m from Muizenberg Beach, which is a perfect beach to learn to surf as well as a family swimming beach. There are many other family facilities behind the beachfront, including water slides and putt-putt courses. Muizenberg has many shops, including organic grocery shops, restaurants, surf schools and performance venues. It is one of the most diverse and interesting communities in the Cape.

The house is also 200 m from Zandvlei which is home to the Cape Town International Kite Festival in spring, as well as water sports and plenty of bird life. We are a five-minute walk from the False Bay Train Station, which has regular connections to central Cape Town and to other resort towns along the Cape Peninsula.

We are nestled below Muizenberg mountain, which is part of the Table Mountain Range and has spectacular hiking and caving opportunities. There is a comprehensive guide book available listing a variety of hikes, for different levels, in the nearby area.

Only half an hour walk along a beautiful coastal path, with two tidal pools ideal for swimming along the way, is the popular Kalk Bay, well worth a visit.

We look forward to accommodating you.

Beach: We are 200 m from Muizenberg Beach.

Spa: Personalised intuitive massages available.

Family friendly: We are a creative family home, happy to accommodate children.

I was drawn to this home while browsing for a place to stay while in my office on Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. I was not disappointed and enjoyed my five-night stay, which begun with a 00:30 arrival (thanks KLM). I was none the less graciously received. I was born in Cape Town, but now live in France and I chose Muizenberg because I had business to do in Cape Town. I wanted to be close to the beach and I love the walk along the coast to Kalk Bay and exploring the lovely coastline to Simonstown. I arrived to a light mist and the sound of the sea from my room - magic! The room and my...

Back to the future, and it's green... With a warm welcome from the Yarrow family, our overnight experience did not tick the usual boring B&B boxes: cream and beige interior, fake art, uniformity. We stayed cosily in an earth walled room with curved timber ceiling, lilac velvet/corduroy curtains and sea grass flooring. A super hot shower from the solar geyser and gorgeous organic bath products (which complement the gray water system) washed away fatigue after a long drive. Wind and wave sounds crooning around the hand moulded walls all added to the textural experience. A delicious health brea...
