Safari Moon is a brand new boutique bush stay with 6 uniquely decorated suites. Named after different wildlife species that can be seen in the estate and around the lodge, every room has its own charm, style and story, not forgetting a vibrant collection of both international and African art.
Accommodation at Safari Moon consists of 6 individually unique suites, all embellished with artistic pieces from all over the world. Each room offers something different, but what they all have in common is the attention to detail in the decor, from fresh foliage to the finishing touches.

The Hoedspruit Wildlife estate has plenty to do if you don’t fancy venturing very far from the lodge. Explore the self-drive game drive routes, make use of the bird hides and cycle tracks, horse riding or simply take a leisurely stroll around the estate.
Further afield there is an array of guided safari excursions, scenic tours and adventures in the Lowveld region. The most popular has to be a trip into the Kruger National Park. Spend sunrise to sunset scouring this iconic wilderness region, searching for its diverse array of species that roam, stalk, soar and sprint.
The entrance to Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate is located in the centre of town, just a 20-minute drive from Hoedspruit airport. We are easily accessible by road from Johannesburg which is a scenic 5-6-hour drive. Upon confirmation, guests will be asked to provide their contact details in which the owner will send the gate details prior to arrival.

Upon arrival you will be expected to have a copy of your credit card for any extra charges and a copy of your id. BOOKING PROCESS1.1 The Client shall be responsible for informing African Retreatsof any bookings, confirmations, booking amendments, orcancellations of rooms or services in writing by e-mail. Theonus of proof of delivery in this regard will be on the Client.1.2 Provisional bookings will be held as follows:Number of days before Travel Number of Days held61 +days 14 daysBetween 60 days and 31 days before travel 7 daysLess than 30 days before arrival 3 days1.3 Upon expiry of the above provisional periods African Retreatsreserves the right to release reservations, unless requested inwriting by the Client to extend the provisional period. Theextension of any provisional period will be at the sole discretionof African Retreats.1.4 In the event African Retreats receives a confirmed reservationrequest against space being held on a provisional basisby the Client, African Retreats reserves the right to requestconfirmation or release of the held space within 72 hours.1.5 Upon confirmation it will be required to disclose the Guest’snationality, this information will solely be used for market datapurposes.1.6 Confirmed space will be subject to the appropriate cancellationand payment policies.2. PAYMENT TERMS2. 1 A booking is only held on a provisional basis until a deposit hasbeen paid.2.2 Deposits2.2.1 The amounts required to confirm a booking are as follows:Direct Guests are required to pay a 30% deposit within14 days to confirm a reservation, with the balance duepayable 30 days before the guest’s arrival.2.3 Balance of Payment2.3.1 Balance of payment is due 30 days prior to arrival.3. PAYMENT METHODS3.1 Direct Guests can make payment via Visa or MasterCard or viaelectronic transfers into our bank account/s.3.2 All electronic transfers should be made in full and free of any bankcharges.4. CANCELLATION4.1 Cancellation of all bookings must be in writing and is onlyeffective on receipt of the written notification.4.2 Reservations held by African Retreats where no deposit hasbeen paid will be cancelled by African Retreats on notice to theClient.4.3 Requests to reduce or waiver cancellation fees from the Clientwill be considered with the decision made at the discretion ofAfrican Retreats.4.3 On cancellation of a confirmed reservation African Retreatsshall, subject to the relevant provisions of the ConsumerProtection Act No. 68 of 2008 (as amended from time to time),and to the extent that the provisions of said Act are applicable,be entitled to the payment of the following cancellation fees:• If cancellation of any booking, or any part thereof, is received31 days or prior to arrival, the deposit will be forfeited.• If cancellation of any booking, or any part thereof, is received30 to 9 days or prior to arrival, a 80% cancellation fee will becharged.• If cancellation of any booking, or any part thereof, is received 8to 0 days or prior to arrival, a 100% cancellation fee will be charged.5. BANKING DETAILS5.1 Electronic transfers may be paid directly into the below listedbank accounts.5.2 A copy of the deposit slip or bank draft, together with theappropriate guest details, reservation number and invoice numbermust be emailed to African Retreats in order to reconcile theappropriate records.5.3 Failure to do so may result in the payment not being reflectedagainst the booking, and the space released due to nonpayment.Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, African Retreats has made special provision for amendments of bookings.COVID-19 RELATED QUALIFYING CONDITIONThis COVID-19 policy will apply if any of the conditions listed below come into effect within a period of 2 months of a guest’s intended arrival, and will apply if the said conditions affect any AFRICAN RETREATS properties within a guest’s itinerary.• The government in the guest’s country of residence restricts travel, which has a direct causal impact on the guest’s travel plans.• Travel restrictions on the destination/s are imposed by the guest’s country of residence• South Africa falls under official government sanctioned lockdown• South Africa closes their borders to all international travellers, or to travellers from the guest’s country of residence.• International flights are cancelled, with no alternative routing available to reach South Africa• A mandatory quarantine period is imposed by South Africa or on return to the guest’s country of residence• The guest’s country of residence has imposed a COVID-19 related travel advisory• If the guest has contracted COVID-19 and is in quarantine or under medical treatment up to 48 hours prior to travel. In such a case, supportive documentation will be required.PLEASE NOTECancellations due to fear of contracting COVID-19 or the prevalence of comorbidities will not constitute legitimate grounds for waivering of cancellation fees.Should the qualifying criteria listed above not be present, AFRICAN RETREATS standard Cancellation Terms and Conditions will apply.NEW BOOKINGSBookings may be held provisionally for 14 days if made more than 60 days prior to arrival, and for 7 days if made less than 60 days prior to arrival• A 30% deposit is required within 10 days of the booking confirmation• The balance of payment is required 45 days prior to arrival• If cancelled (due to a COVID-19 qualifying conditions) within 48 hours prior to arrival, a full credit will be held for a future booking (at the property the booking was originally confirmed)• Refunds will be made in the property’s published currency, less any bank charges incurred.EXISTING BOOKINGS (POSTPONE & CANCELLED)• AFRICAN RETREATS Standard Operating Procedure for cancelled bookings where funds have been received is to issue a credit note to the agent/guest for the amount paid, these credit notes do not expire and can be applied to any booking at the property the booking was originally confirmed at.• All provisional and confirmed bookings can be postponed to 2021 with no increase in rates, if bookings are postponed to 2022, guests will be liable to pay for the applicable increase in rates.• Guests are able to postpone without giving new dates upfront.• For any postponements to 2022, these dates can be obtained at a later stage in 2021.BOOKINGS POSTPONED TO TRAVEL IN 2021• All existing bookings due to travel in 2020 may be postponed to 2021 without penalty. 2020 rates will be honoured and there is no limit to the numbers of postponements• Postponements confirmation will be held provisionally for 14 days if made more than 60 days prior to arrival, and for 7 days if made less than 60 days prior to arrival• A 30% deposit is required within 10 days of the booking confirmation• Full payment is due 45 days prior to arrival. see more
