About Rhenosterpoort Water Retreat

Rhenosterpoort, situated in the Waterberg Mountains and disected by the Rhenoster River, is an unspoilt piece of paradise that has been a regular destination for hikers since 1996. There are two marked hiking trails of 10 km and 12 km. There have been many requests in the past for a different type of accommodation to the very primitive bush camps and the result is a self-catering chalet overlooking a farm dam on the Rhenoster River. Ideal for a peaceful family getaway, we offer game drives, a choice of two marked hiking trails, fishing, and bird watching. Also perfect for just relaxing in the peaceful natural surroundings. The area is malaria-free and the proximity of the chalet to a permanent water source means that this is the perfect place to visit in the summer. Kids will love swimming in all the natural rock pools. There are many activities in the area that your host Sharyn will help book. Visit the Marakele National Park, go on a Big 5 game drive at Kololo Nature Reserve, spend some time on the Cheetah Feeding Tour at the de Wildt Shingwedzi Cheetah Farm, and much more. The Stone Chalet sleeps four in an open-plan bedroom with a double-bed and a double-bunk, and has an en-suite bathroom and fully-equipped kitchenette. There is a private braai area with place for a campfire to sit around, ideal for a cool sun-downer after a hot summer's day. Please take note that no pets are allowed.

What a beautiful spot, away from the maddening crowd. Loved sitting on the stoep and watching the birdlife on the dam right on our doorstep, a birder's dream. The cottage is comfortable and has all the basic necessities. We will definitely return for a longer visit.

Very nice owners. Friendly and helpful. The place was clean and tidy. It was homely and comfortable. The only thing that I can negatively say is that it wasnt well equipped. I think they could supply much more to make the guest stay more easy. There was no microwave. Only 3 glasses. Which is a bit odd. Utensils and cutlery are needed. Glasses and mugs. Otherwise the place was quite fine. I would still go back again.

The 3 days we spent at this wonderful and relaxing place in the Rankin pass area was worth more than just the actual hours on the clock. it is the ideal place to give your mind an soul some peace while enjoying the wildlife and pleasant hikes to one of the most serene waterfalls I have seen. Do not hesitate to go and relax here, the hosts are very accommodating and friendly and one feels like family within hours of arriving.

This hideaway is perfect for those seeking ultimate bush time to wind down and relax. We enjoyed our quiet time out. The host were gracious and always willing to assist. Note: Take a insect repelleant :-) you will need it.....The hiking trails, were enjoyable and cool. So, for bush lovers, this is a place to be. No frills, No Fuss.

My wife and I enjoyed our weekend at Rhenosterpoort so much, we didn't want to leave. It was so peaceful and quiet. Was so relaxed and had time to unwind. The stone chalet was beautiful, and loved that it was so close to the water. We enjoyed the hike and the most amazing views. We definitely would go back for another few days and would recommend Rhenosterpoort to all our friends and family. Sharyn and the family were so friendly and are all round lovely people. Awesome place! Thanks for the amazing weekend.
