About Port St. John's River Lodge

Situated on the mighty Umzimvubu River, the third largest river in South Africa, between the mountains Thesiger and Sullivan, is the beautiful Port St. John's River Lodge.

Guests have a choice of staying in B&B Hotel Rooms or in Self-catering Chalets. The B&B rooms are all en-suite with showers only. Tea and coffee facilities are available and the rooms are equipped with TVs with limited DStv channels. The rooms have lovely gardens, mountain or river views and some rooms are air-conditioned.

Each Self-catering Chalet has a private patio with a braai area and overlooks the garden and pool with views of mountains Thesiger and Sullivan. TVs with limited DStv channels are available and the units are serviced daily.

The a la carte restaurant offers a breakfast buffet and scrumptious dinners. The lodge is fully licensed and has a ladies bar, a pool table and a big screen TV for the sports enthusiast. Guests can also relax in the comfortable lounge and bar area or sunbathe around the sparkling pool.

Guests can explore pristine beaches, estuaries, forests and grasslands, still untouched by the modern world and teeming with fascinating wildlife. The Wild Coast Museum holds the history and culture of the Pondo people, dolphin and whale watching can be done in June and July, and birdwatchers will enjoy looking out for 250 species of birds, which include the Cape Parrot. Silaka Game Reserve is 6 km from town and here guests can take a walk or game drive.

Relax and unwind in a secure, peaceful environment that takes you far away from the bustle of city life.

All good. The couple that manage were really nice and went out of their way to assist us with information.

MyFamily and I stayed for only one night and had a great experience. Friendlystaff, nice restaurant and bar overlooking a beautiful river. We had a nicemeal on the deck at their restaurant and the servings were nice and large withgood options. Beautiful views from our table looking at the mountains and river. An ideal place and I will definitely recommend this place.

We stayed some nights at Port St.Johns River Lodge. Rooms are very simple and pretty small, matresses of low quality. Staff was friendly and helpful. It is a very nice setting, but concerning the rooms and compared to other accomodation in SA the value for money is not very good.
