About Olienhout Lodge

Olienhout Lodge is a beautifully decorated lodge with exceptional views of the Vaal River and the surrounding mountains. It is situated in the Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site, a mere two hours' drive from Gauteng. It consists of three bedrooms (sleeping up to eight people) and two bathrooms. The lodge also has two braai areas as well as a fireplace for the cold winter nights. The kitchen is fully-equipped for a weekend away and all bedding and towels are provided (including electric blankets during winter).

The house is situated 100 m from the river on a mountain slope, and occasionally you can hear the call of the fish eagle.

We were quite surprised by the well planned and equipped lodge. Anything you may need (even Tabard for the mosquitos) is available. It's well kept and the staff who assisted with cleaning were very polite and friendly. The location of the lodge is excellent. The view is perfect. We'll definitely visit Olienhout again in future. The only challenge was the steep paved road leading up to the lodge. I'll advise people to make sure your vehicle can pull a loaded trailer before you attempt it. :-) Thanks for Cronnie who send Amos to our rescue!

Our family stayed at the house for the weekend.  It is beautifully located and has everything that you require for a wonderful weekend away from the city and the people. The only comment I would make is that the house does require an information booklet on where you can walk and what you can do while staying at the house.  Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay

We had such a wonderful time at Olienhout Lodge with friends. The view from the stoep of the river is tranquil, the lodge comfortable, beautifully furnished and has everything you need.We were sad that we could not spend more time there and really experience the quiet.
