About Mount Serene

Mount Serene is situated on the slopes of the Magaliesberg Mountains, about 30 kilometre from the town of Magaliesburg on the R24; less than 100 kilometre from Johannesburg or Pretoria.

There is no TV. We are no longer pet friendly. There are two options available; a secluded stone cottage, which sleeps two, perfect for a romantic getaway or a converted railway coach, which sleeps eight, great for the family.

The units are very well separated to ensure absolute privacy of guests at all times. Each unit has its own sparkling mineral-water splash pool and braai area. All units have an indoor log fireplace for those chilly winter evenings, although temperatures here seldom fall below +6 degree C. Whether you choose to relax at the pool side, walk to the mountain plateau, explore iron-age ruins, hike to the top of the Magaliesberg mountains or identify some of the 300 species of birds found in the area, you are guaranteed a peaceful break from the city life.

There are many recreational and sporting facilities close by, including game drives, horse riding, trout fishing, golf, tennis, quad biking, magalies meander and hot air ballooning to name but a few.

Mount Serene provides tranquil self catering units, fully equipped including a private splash pool, braai and indoor fire place.

Family friendly: We have a kiddies swing, jungle gym and trampoline on the premises.

It was a serene get-away with slow walks and soft lingering in the pool...

Going up the mountain is tough, but the reward is remarkable. This was our second time at the rock cottage and we would love to go there again, however the barbecue blows the smoke in your face and could do with an improvement.

The privacy, the night sounds, the relaxing surroundings. Really was a great, albeit, too short, stay.....We'll definitely do it again.

The coach is really something impressive and the kids loved it. Spacious with a private splash pool, patio area with braai facilities and functional kitchen. Couldn't ask for more if you just want some private R&R
