About Living Life Station House

The Station House at Living Life offer accommodation in a beautifully renovated old stationmaster’s house. This quaint old sandstone house is walking distance from the Station Café.

Set in natural surroundings, they are private and perfect for a relaxing weekend away or a stopover in Ladybrand. Decorated in a vintage style, rooms are crisp and filled with natural light. Natural tones and clean lines form a contrast with the lush gardens outside.

Ladybrand is a small town in the Eastern Free State of South Africa. It is on the Lesotho border, near the Maseru border post. Entering the town from the Maseru side, follow Piet Retief Street to its end.

A real gem! Don't let the road fool you -- this place is ideally situated on a beautiful property. The rooms were large, clean, comfortable, and decorated beautifully. The breakfast (and dinner) were tasty and everyone was kind and helpful. Indoor and outdoor spaces were great. I'll return here when needing to stay in the area.

Arrived a day early by mistake, but got a lovely room. Very good breakfast. Pleasant helpful staff. Nice gardens. Bit unusual place with 200 yards rough road approach - but don't be put off!

So worth the drive to a perfect destination... Friendly staff, delicious meals and stunning rooms... Such attention to detail... Would drive all the way from Durvan for a special night!

We stop here en-route to Lesotho having travelled to SA from the UK - the Maseru bridge crossing can be a step too far after a 24hour journey. Hence we always stay at Living Life- an oasis of peace, calm and warm hospitality. Love this place. A true gem.

Tucked away in a secret little town that still has a Spar supermarket, my brand new wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the escape that Living Life offered. We were so impressed with how many flowers and green trees and bushes there were. We understand that it's due a management change soon, but also hear that some of the staff will remain. If you decide to go through, tell David that Gavin says hi, and that he's an incredible caterer!

The Mud Studio

(10.2 km from Ladybrand)

A visit to The Mud Studio just outside Ladybrand is a well worth detour to make. Werner and Philippa du Toit are two very talented artists. They have won much international acclaim. The factory shop offers some beautiful pieces to take back home.

Groenkloof 4x4 is in a valley at the foot of Viervoetberg, in the Eastern Free State. The farm offers tracks for quad bikes, mountain bikes and 4x4s. The tracks cross each other but are clearly marked so that nobody gets lost. The 4x4 trail is...

Langesnek Hiking Trail

(57.3 km from Ladybrand)

This trail comprises two day trails suitable for the fit and unfit. One is 11.2 km and the other 10.5 km, with an optional 2 km walk up Pyramid Mountain. There are overnight facilities for 24 people in an old farmhouse, with outbuildings that...

Pony Trekking

(73 km from Ladybrand)

No visit to Lesotho would be complete without a pony trek. It is the transport of choice for most Basotho as the sturdy ponies handle the narrow trails better than any 4X4 can. Pony treks can be arranged in the morning or the afternoon. Beginner...
