Discover a haven of tranquility where you can unwind amidst the serenity of nature. With our outdoor kitchen overlooking the inviting pooldeck and river, you'll find yourself spending most of your time basking in the beauty of the great outdoors. Our bushcamp consists of two modest chalets - a 4 sleeper and a 2 sleeper - which are exclusively booked together as one unit, guaranteeing you complete privacy and sole access to the outdoor kitchen, pool, and braai facilities. While our owner and family reside on the property, rest assured that their living space is separate from the guest area, allowing you to enjoy uninterrupted peace and quiet.


Immerse yourself in the untamed splendor of the bush as you journey along a scenic 12km dirt road to reach us. While a 4x4 vehicle is not necessary, we do advise against very low cars as they may encounter difficulty. Additionally, please note that there is a conservation levy of R150 per car, valid for 7 days.


Little Carthage is a sanctuary for those who have a deep affinity for the bush, but we kindly ask that you be prepared for all that it entails. Geckos, lizards, spiders, and the occasional snake, as well as playful monkeys and baboons, are all part of our natural landscape. Here, we strive to preserve all forms of life, except for mosquitoes and flies, of course.


Situated within the 1000 ha Ndlovumzi Nature Reserve, our bushcamp is teeming with a variety of magnificent wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, kudus, nyalas, warthogs, elands, waterbucks, and black-backed jackals. And let's not forget about the awe-inspiring crocodiles and hippos that claim the main stream of the Olifants river as their domain. For those craving adventure, embark on an exploration of the nearby island, potholes, and waterfalls, all just steps away from Little Carthage.


Indulge in the ultimate relaxation experience on our pool deck overlooking the river. Take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool or gather around the braai area for a delectable feast. Enjoy a leisurely meal at our shaded eight-seater table, perfectly positioned to embrace the tranquility of the surroundings. Inside our open kitchen, you'll find another eight-seater table beneath a thatched roof, a full-size fridge-freezer, a gas oven and stove, a microwave, and all the necessary cutlery and crockery.


Accommodations include:


* The Loft Chalet: A charming abode that comfortably accommodates up to four guests. The main floor features a cozy queen-size bed, while the loft bedroom boasts twin beds. A shower-equipped bathroom completes this charming chalet. Please note that the ladder leading to the loft is quite steep and may not be suitable for young children or older individuals. Additionally, a kitchenette with a medium fridge, a kettle, and basic cutlery and crockery is provided for your convenience.


* The Rondavel: A quaint open-plan room for two, offering simplicity and cleanliness. The room includes a comfortable double bed and a bathroom with a shower, separated only by a half wall. Cooking and catering facilities are available in the outdoor kitchen. Please note that the Rondavel cannot be rented on its own and is only available to those hiring both the Loft Chalet and Rondavel together.
