About Lemonwood

Lemonwood is an ideal base in which to explore the Natal Midlands. Being in the centre of the Midlands, there are all the craft attractions of the Midlands Meander on our doorstep, with some of the finer quality crafts-people happily close by.
There is fishing available locally and riding trails. The activities in the Midlands also include fine and easily accessible golf courses and the 'extreme sport' of the Karkloof Canopy Tour.
We are conveniently situated for the private schools in the area from Nottingham Road to Pietermaritzburg, especially for the events or open weekends at Michaelhouse, Hilton and St. Anne's.
There are several wedding and conference venues nearby as well as a plethora of restaurants

The battlefield area is also accessible for day trips or more extensive overnight stays. We can put you in touch with tour operators if wanted. Also day trips to the world famous Drakensberg are easily accomplished. If you are spending more than a couple of days on the area a picnic, walk or inspection of the cave art (or all three) is a must.
It has to be said though, that we find it hard to tear ourselves away from our beautiful little corner of South Africa in the Dargle.

We had a great time, beautiful view from the stoep, add a hammock and a glass of wine with the fire going, what more can one ask for. John even brought us some free range eggs for breakfast and supplied us with free wood for the braai. View from the kitchen window even made dishwashing a pleasure. Recommend the cottage whithout any reservation

I loved the escape from the busy schedule of life. very comfortable cottage with views over the cultivated veggy fields. Lovely bird life and tranquility. Cosy cottage with everything one needs for a few nights away.

We stayed in a lovely cabin. The facilities were just perfect for what we needed. Unfortunately it rained the whole time we were there so we did not enjoy the hikes and walks as much as we wanted to. We will definitely stay there again!
