About Kwalata Game Lodge - Dinokeng

Kwalata Game Lodge was established in 1994 as a family run business and is also the first lodge you will encounter as you enter the reserve from both the Dinokeng Reserve’s Tau & Ndlovu gates.

The lodge can sleep up to 90 guests comfortably comprising a variety of accommodation types, ranging from 10 en-suite log cabin rooms, 4 A-frame rock chalets, three 2 bedroom log units and another 10 brick built thatched rooms, all located comfortably apart from each other within our lodge’s lush gardens and amongst the Tamboti trees. All rooms are air-conditioned and offer en-suite bathrooms with bath and/or shower, room safes and coffee/tea stations.

Our guests can enjoy lunch and dinner in our Kubu Restaurant during their stay, but alternatively several nearby options are also available within the reserve for enjoying meals. For those hot summer days there is also a swimming pool located beside the Kubu Restaurant.

Safari: Situated in the Dinokeng Big5 Game Reserve, we offer guided Dame Drives & Safaris.

Wedding Venues: Chapel (200 guests) 2x Reception areas, Full catering, Wedding at amphitheater, river or Tree church, veld photos, Weekend Wedding Package.

Indemnity
● Any Guest causing loss or damage to any fixed or movable property of shall be liable to reimburse the lodge for any loss suffered by Kwalata in replacing or repairing such loss or damage. Kwalata and its owners shall not be responsible for the loss of money or other personal property from Guest’s rooms. Kwalata accepts no responsibility whatsoever for loss of, or damage to residents' private property during their stay.
● Guests are responsible for insurance of their personal items.
● A First Aid kit is held at the reception for minor injuries, for any other serious ailments, Medical services are available at Jubilee District Hospital in Temba (8.2km), or at Netcare Montana Hospital in Pretoria (37,9km)
● Kwalata and its owners shall not be responsible for any damages, losses or injuries during residence activities, trail walks, game drives, pools, around the premises or on excursions.

Visitor’s responsibility
● Treat fellow Guests and Kwalata staff with respect at all times.
● Please take responsibility for Children and minors staying with you at Kwalata.
● Children should be under supervision at all times and are the responsibility of their parents or guardians.
● Respect the privacy of other Guests.
● Comply with all fair and reasonable guidelines, rules and instructions of Kwalata personnel.
● Report any irregular deeds by fellow Guests.
● Use the available facilities with responsibility and accountability in accordance with the Lodge Rules.

Rules applying to accommodation at Kwalata Lodge
● Reservation Policy: Full payment is required for confirmation of Self-Catering Accommodation, B&B Accommodation and Game Drive bookings.
● Only cash, bank transfers or deposits are accepted.
● All Prices include VAT.
● Prices quoted are subject to change without prior notice.
● Cancellation Policy: Cancellation of bookings: Cancellation within 48 hours prior to the booking date is charged at 50% (ie. full deposit payment) OR the full payment with a cancellation within 24 hours of the booking date & time.
● Only paying Guests may be accommodated at Kwalata.
● Laundry services are available, and can be arranged with our front office/reception.
● Please do not use towels for Swimming; they are supplied for bathing purposes only.
● There are no pets allowed on the property or in the Accommodation at any time.
● There is a NO SMOKING policy in the Accommodation at all times. During winter times care should be taken when smoking on the property due to a High fire danger alert. Please take care when extinguishing your cigarette butts, please use the ashtrays and ashtray pots provided around the venue. Guests who are careless and cause a fire will legally be held responsible for damages to Kwalata property, neighboring properties and the reserve.
● All game animals should be treated with respect as they are all wild animals. Care should be taken when on Game drives or trail walks. ALWAYS keep a safe distance from all game.
● Please do not attempt to touch or play with any snakes on the property as many of them are venomous, stay calm and stay still until the snake moves away from you. In most cases snakes do not attack people; they just want to get away from you. Please report any sightings to our front office/reception office.
● In case of an emergency please advise the reception office, or if occurring after hours, please contact one of the owners by phone.

Chalet Rules
1.Our standard check in time is from 14H00. Please report at our front office/reception on arrival and collect your keys.
2.Departure is strictly no later than 10H00. Please report at our front office/reception before departure, and please hand in your keys. Late departures will carry a penalty charge.
3.Occupancy at anytime, for any reason, is limited to the number of persons agreed, as per your reservation, and is strictly limited to the maximum bed capacity per room (ie. maximum 4 persons per self-catering unit)
4.Absolutely NO SMOKING is permitted INSIDE venues or chalets. Please make use ashtrays and ashtray pots around the venue and only smoke in allocated outdoor areas.
5.When leaving the chalet unoccupied at any time, please lock the doors. Please also make use of the room safe for storing any valuables during your stay.
6.Kindly note that NO drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) or food is permitted to be consumed at any communal areas within the lodge (ie. at the pool, Nkwe Hall, Kubu Pub & Restaurant, Elephant Boma, Wildebeest Lapa or in the gardens) and may only be enjoyed in or at your own chalet and private lapa area.
7.Breakages: Please inform us of any breakages, should you encounter any on arrival, no longer than one hour of your check in to avoid any relevant damage/breakage charges which will be charged to your account.
8.SELF-CATERING UNITS: Inventory & Breakages: Please check to make sure that the inventory of self-catering equipment (eg. plates, glasses, cutlery, pots, etc) provided in your unit is correct, and please declare any discrepancies when you arrive. Recheck when you leave and report any discrepancies or breakages accordingly to our front office for costs to be settled direct.
9.SELF-CATERING UNITS: An initial amount of firewood will be provided for self-catering guests, and any other items required for your stay (eg. firelighters, charcoal, etc) may be purchased from our reception/front office.
10.SELF-CATERING UNITS: Fires to be made ONLY in appropriate fire pit areas provided and guests must please ensure that fires are completely extinguished before they leave the chalet, or before going to bed.
11.Silence is strictly to be observed from 22h00 (10pm).
12.The sound levels of music/sound equipment must be kept at a reasonable level at all times – and must not be a nuisance to other guests. We request that guests be courteous to the bushveld surroundings, and remember that they are are in fact within a Big 5 Game Reserve, and use discretion accordingly to keep noise levels, in general, to a respectfully low level.
13.The swimming pool is used at own risk & children may only swim under adult supervision.
14.Kids must be accompanied by adults at all times while at the lodge, and inside the swimming pool
15.Please adhere to restrictions of private venue use, as noted on the sign boards outside venues at all times.
16.Please use electricity and water wisely and switch off unnecessary lights, or air-conditioners when you go out or are not using a room.
17.Unless otherwise indicated, the speed limit within the lodge grounds and the reserve is 30km/hr.
18.NO driving is permitted EXCEPT on main thoroughfare or servitude roads within the reserve,
UNLESS in possession of an official SELF-DRIVE ROUTE PERMIT. Permits for the self-drive
route may be purchased at the reserve office or entrance gates, or at the entrance to the Wilderness Way route entrance gate at the North-Eastern part of the route. Please contact the Dinokeng Big 5 Game Reserve office
during office hours only, for more details and prior booking of permits. Upon booking your permit, you will be provided with a detailed map of the route for navigation. (PLEASE NOTE: Properties within the reserve are privately owned, so driving off the self-drive route would be trespassing on private land and may be liable to prosecution)
19.When leaving your room/chalet unoccupied at any time, please lock the doors. Please also make use of the room safe for storing any valuables during your stay.
20.NO refuse to be placed within or outside the chalet, except in the refuse bins provided.
21.Leisure guest visitors are ONLY permitted during the day by prior arrangement with the sales consultant or front office. Day visitors, when confirmed, must vacate the property by latest 21h00, and it is the guest’s responsibility to ensure that their visitors depart from the premises accordingly.
22.For self-catering guests: Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner is available to be ordered and purchased from our Kubu Restaurant Bar. Please note however, that for groups of 8 or more guests wishing to enjoy meals, prior arrangements and bookings are essential.
23.For B&B Accommodation Guests: Your breakfast venue will be confirmed on arrival and will be served from 8h00-10h00. Any guests arriving after 10h00 will be able to order breakfast, for their own additional cost, from our a-la-carte menu in the Kubu Restaurant Bar in needed.
24.Please adhere to restrictions indicated, and not entering private venues which may be reserved by other guests, which will appropriately be noted on sign boards outside venues when applicable.
25.SELF-CATERING UNITS: Staff will be available Mon to Sat to clear ash from the boma area, if you require any additional services, please enquire with reception about additional charges.
26.Linen and Towels will be changed every 3 days or when they are soiled.
27.Laundry services are available at an extra cost, and can be arranged with our front office/reception.
28.Please do not use towels for Swimming; they are supplied for bathing purposes only.
29.Do not move furniture around in the rooms or chalets and do not, under any circumstance, take them outside.
30.Upon departure, please ensure that the chalet is generally tidy.
31.Should any of the rules of the lodge not be adhered to, we reserve the right to admission. Misbehavior will not be tolerated, and guests failing to adhere to the rules will be asked to vacate the premises immediately, with no refunds.
