About Kalahari Trails

About Kalahari Trails

Kalahari Trails is situated on a private nature reserve just 35 km south of the main entrance gate to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park at Twee Rivieren, in the heart of the red Kalahari dune fields. Here we offer visitors a unique chance to wander on foot through this awe-inspiring landscape, where the sky and the rolling sand dunes give the impression of limitless space, and the bowl of the heavens stretches from horizon to horizon. At Kalahari Trails, visitors can experience a Kalahari that they would not see from a car. Although all local game species are present here, as well

It is a quaint old farmhouse. Ideal for those who love peace and quiet and rustic environments. Rooms have wall heaters, fans and there is a large communal kitchen, dini g room and living room. Huge patio with lit braai area. Walks in the bush and if lucky, you get to see meerkats. Only 35km from Kgalagadi Transfrontier park

What a wonderful surprise Kalahari Trails was! We were welcomed by Mareli and little Einstein, the bottle baby. He is the cutest thing! The interaction with the meerkats and the opportunity to watch their interactions was really special. We learnt a lot, also about scorpions! Very hot, as can be expected in January, but so worth the visit. A special place indeed. A 'must visit' in the Kalahari.

The isolation of the cottage provided peace and quiet. I recommend that at least 2 comfortable lounging chairs are added. Sitting on wooden kitchen chairs is not very comfortable after a long day in the Park.

Braai under the stars.....interaction with a meerkat family and an early morning guided walk in the Kalahari dunes to discover the secrets of the desert. Thank you Mareli !!
