Great Rift Valley Lodge and Golf Resort
About Great Rift Valley Lodge and Golf Resort
From its panoramic perch above Lake Naivasha, the Great Rift Valley Lodge and Golf Resort enjoys one of humankind’s oldest views over the sweeping floor of the world’s largest valley. An hour and a half’s drive or a 30-minute flight from Nairobi, the lodge is built on the Eburru, a mountain that the Maasai call Ol Donyo Opurru, meaning 'mountain of smoke'.
The lodge sits at about 7,000 feet, from which elevation it enjoys magnificent views to the west and east. The vistas stretch from the sparkling waters of Lake Naivasha to the jagged volcanic crater of Mount Longonot and, beyond, the sloping shoulders of the Aberdare Mountains, Kenya’s most important watershed.
On a quick break out of Nairobi or en route from safari, the Great Rift Valley Lodge And Golf Resort rooms are spacious, with a lounge and fireplace and private balconies overlooking the Aberdares, Kenya’s longest mountain massif stretching 160 km, the Kinangop plateau lying a tier below the Aberdares, and the plains of Eburru littered with black obsidian stone telling its volcanic past.
The Great Rift Valley Lodge offers twin and double rooms, all with private balconies overlooking the spectacular expanse of the Rift Valley. The rooms are located in spacious two- and three-storey blocks, and are beautifully furnished with large four-poster beds, handmade wooden furniture, and modern en-suite bathrooms. Several of the rooms also have interlinking doors that convert them into spacious family suites.
Alternative accommodation is available in the Longonot Villas, modern houses complete with every modern amenity to make the traveller feel right at home. The living room, dining room and kitchen take the entire floor, with the master bedroom on the top tier. The ground floor with two bedrooms, opens onto the garden with every floor giving that unforgettable view of the mountain and the lake.
The 18-hole championship course on the Eburru Range is both challenging and exciting. Sitting on the Mau Escarpment in the Great Rift Valley, the course commands stunning vistas of Lake Naivasha, Mount Longonot, the Kinangop Range and Aberdare Mountains. Golfers give right of way to the wild animals who have taken residence on the lush fairways and tiny islets in the ponds. Flocks of black-headed oriole, fischers lovebirds and Egyptian geese sun themselves on the greens without batting an eyelid at the golfers.
Conference Venues: The resort offers one of the best conferencing facilities in the country, with three conference rooms set in beautiful grounds. The conference rooms are fitted with all conferencing amenities, including audio-visual materials.
