About Gingerbed Cottage

Gingerbed is a charming and stylish cottage situated on a large property with a beautiful, tranquil garden, in the historical "onderdorp" of Franschhoek. It has its own private entrance, and private courtyard overlooking the garden.

Our rooms are tastefully decorated, with whitewashed floors and white percale linen – it is simple, stylish, and comfortable. It is an open-plan unit with an en-suite bathroom with bath, basin and toilet, and small self-catering kitchen. There is a TV and couch in the bedroom, and guests also have access to the garden pool.

Well-equipped cottage, clean, very private and cosy.We enjoyed our stay there and can recommend it to a couple visiting Franschhoek. The cottage is close to all the restaurants, the market, church, craft shops, etc. The reason four 4 stars and not 5 stars is that there was no secure off-street parking for our vehicle.

Gingerbed Cottage is a delightful, bright and airy cottage with its own entrance and front garden. It has a lovely personal touch with Sue's ceramics on the wall and for use in the kitchenette, rusks and plunger coffee.  Located one street back from the main street with all the restaurants and shops was ideal. The monthly market is a must! We will definitely be back and have recommended it to friends in SA and Australia.

My husband and I had a lovely stay in Franschhoek this weekend. Gingerbed Cottage is comfortable and quiet, and Sue provided delicious plunger coffee and home-made rusks. Amazing value for money! We will definitely visit again.

Wonderful place and host.Located just off the main road, the cottage has a wonderful garden and the room itself has a nice open feel and was very clean. The reason why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars was that there was no door for the toilet - which may be a deterrent for some.

Such a gem of a spot I want to keep it a secret!! If you are looking for an affordable base camp while exploring Franschhoek then this is the place for you. In a nutshell - clean, quiet, central and very reasonably priced. I will definitely be back. Thank you Sue for a lovely stay once again!!!
