About Etali Safari Lodge

Out of the heart of the spectacular Madikwe Game Reserve, embraced by pristine bushveld nurtured by Mother Africa’s rich red soil, Etali Safari Lodge rises to meet you with lavish hospitality.

Built to be in harmony with nature under the vibrant African sun, Etali is an exclusive, intimate haven where body and soul are rejuvenated in surroundings created by people who understand luxury. You’ll find the accommodation at Etali Safari Lodge sheer bliss in any one of our eight luxurious air-conditioned suites, each set apart for total privacy in its own bushveld domain. The mix of cool and earthy colours in the decor is a peaceful contrast to the unsurpassed beauty of the sweet thorn Acacia trees outside. Cooling off in the splendid outdoor whirlpool, sipping a cocktail as you watch the breathtaking African sunset on your own deck is the ultimate indulgence.

Nothing beats a long, lingering shower taken in our inside and outside showers with only a bird or little antelope as audience. Second to that may be to soak away in our partner bath and enjoy a relaxing bath therapy prepared by our therapist. Big comfortable beds with fine crisp linen promise an unforgettable night’s sleep beneath the thatched roof. We also cater for families with our family suite and if you have teenagers, we can offer you two slightly smaller back-to-back rooms, the only in the camp with a connecting deck. These rooms do not have an outside shower, however they share a heated plunge pool.

Our core philosophy of natural health is based on holism and incorporates healing and rejuvenating body, mind and spirit, guaranteed to reawaken your five senses. Etali's state-of the-art Wellness Centre is a unique concept. The design and layout of the cool, thatched, earthy toned secluded Wellness rooms lends itself to a sense of space, allowing the soundtrack of the great outdoors to float in and lull you into a deep state of relaxation. You hear the echo of the elephants around the water hole and the Weaver birds tapping on the windows. This piece of undisturbed Africa is where nature is truly in its element. Discover how fantastically good you really can feel.

Whether you are in need of pure self-indulgence, to commune with nature or detoxify the whole body, improve fitness levels, recover from illness or to simply relax and unwind from modern urban living then this is where you can install a feeling of calm and relief. True relaxation is an art; let us show you.

Etali’s delectable cuisine is a contemporary fusion of traditional African with an Asian twist. Meals are light and healthy with lots of fresh seasonal and organically grown vegetables, fruit and herbs. There is no set menu as the chef extraordinaire selects only the best local produce daily to work his magic. Etali house wines are supplied by Glenwood Estate. We serve Glenwood Shiraz and Glenwood Semillon Sauvignon Blanc wines. Other than fine dining in our dining room or main deck, we offer traditional South African dinners in our lesaka kraal built-in stone. Tswana elders used to gather in lesaka to discuss tribal issues. Etali has a site where we serve bush breakfasts and dinners weather permitting.

Everything about this lodge is amazing. From the staff, accommodation, to the  food. Oh, I forgot the animals! We had the best time, and really want to visit again one day. Thank you Etali.Pam and Ron Lamb.

I had a lovely stay. Too short, but made to feel very welcome. The back massage was great and the accommodation superb. Moses made me feel at home. I slept very well and felt that I had rested well. Great food and a relaxed atmosphere. No pressure. Very knowledgable game ranger. We had good sightings on the game drive and in the camp. Will visit again soon, in winter, with warm log fires, shorter grass, better game viewing, but for three nights next time - at least.

Staff were all very hospitable, polite and attentive and ensured that we had a pleasant and memorable stay. The location is also ideal for those wanting a real bush experience with all the luxury amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. I would highly recommend this lodge, not only for the 5-star experience, but also the facilities available (Wellness centre) and the attention to detail. We felt special from the moment we arrived. I will definitely return.

Etali Lodge is a great place for a romantic getaway with lots of privacy and excellent game viewing! We had a fabulous time the staff were excellent, food was 5 star, we loved the boma dinner. The rooms are great and very comfortable with all the extras you could dream of! The gamedrives were well organised and we loved every moment! Thank you so much to all the staff, Ruan and Ronnie (our guides), J-C and Ryan and kitchen staff, Edwin for taking us safely to our rooms, and last to Susan and Koos for allowing us to share in their wonderful establishment and african dream.

Our stay at Etali was absolutely fabulous. John D and Doctor - thanks for the amazing game drives. Jaycee, I'm convinced I'm gonna be the envy of all my friends with my new cheesecake recipe. Can't wait to try it. To all the staff, especially the cleaners, whom I never got to see, our room was always perfect like our stay. My best local holiday ever.
