On the 8 day Cape Town Fitness Challenge you will explore the Mother city in the active, sweaty and healthy way! Experience all the main tourist attractions keeping fit, testing your limits & enjoying healthy, delicious meals.
TOUR INCLUDES: Airport Arrival Transfer, 7 nights accommodation as booked, healthy breakfast all mornings, healthy dinner on all evenings, Myciti bus pass, walking tour of Cape Town, first & final fitness assessments, cooking class, beach workout, surf lesson, 2x pilates lessons, TRX training, Cape Point tour, cross fit training, seal snorkelling, beach/park run.
You are welcomed at the airport and transported to the 5 star Saltycrax Backpackers in Blouberg. The hostel is within walking distance from restaurants, the beach, shops and transport terminals. Blouberg is famous for kitesurfing, water sports and its amazing views of Table Mountain. In the evening you will meet with your program leader who will discuss your weeks fitness camp. You will be served a healthy dinner with the rest of your group.
After breakfast at Saltycrax, you will complete your fitness assessment from weigh in, discussing eating habits and ways to improve. After the assessment, head to town with the local transport for a guided walking tour of the city, visiting all the historical sites! Arrive back at the hostel and meet our health chef who will teach you about healthy cooking.
Start with an hour beach cardio session. Get the heart pumping and boost metabolism before we hit the waves for a 2 hour surf lesson! In the afternoon you will be introduced to your first Pilates lesson to stretch out those muscles. The studio has a stunning view of Blouberg, the sea and Table Mountain. A healthy dinner will be cooked up for you at the hostel.
You will be introduced to TRX suspension training which provides a full body strength workout! You can regress or progress each body weight movement according to strength and fitness level. The rest of the day is at your own leisure to relax or visit some of the sites Cape Town has to offer. Dinner will be ready and waiting when you get back home.
Explore the scenic drives of the Cape of Good Hope. See the penguins on the beach, even a baboon and a leisurely cycle in the nature reserve.
Today is all yours. Either relax on the beach, or take the MyCiti bus into Cape Town to hike the famous Table Mountain (optional). You can hike up and down or only one way and take the cable car down. At the top of the mountain you will have a chance to take in the stunning views and Abseil the highest abseil in the world (optional). You will then have the afternoon at your leisure to explore the city.
Today we will start off with a Crossfit type training using ropes, chin up bars, squat jumps, rowing machines, free weights and core. Then head to Hout Bay on the MyCiti to visit the local markets then go snorkelling with the seals. Once you arrive back we will have a sunset Pilates session. *Snorkelling will be substituted for a Township tour or similar activity if weather doesn’t permit.
Do a Warrior/Impy challenge in the park below the studio: We have a 2km run around a quiet park with obstacles to hurdle, run up, jump over and swing across. By weeks end, you will know how to warm up correctly and to stretch different muscle groups as well as engage your core and safe lifting techniques. Have your final measurements taken and see how you have done for the week. Your Instructor will be happy to work out a home
fitness program for you to do when you get home. (Optional extra)
