About Die Paalhys

Die Paalhys is a Canadian type fully equipped solid log home overlooking un-obstructed natural mountain terrain. The house is set in the quite village of Kaapsehoop where horses run free and the cool morning mist creates a magical setting in the mountains.

The house has two bedrooms and an open-plan living area with a fully equipped kitchen and a deck. The open-plan kitchen includes an old-style six-seater dining room table adjacent to the lounge with a television, local channels only. There is two additional sleeper couches for children in the large double volume lounge area. The huge deck area has a Webber braai and views of the natural surroundings. Covered paring is provided.

The small village offers many trails and restaurants run by the local residents creating a homely atmosphere to enjoy a peaceful vacation.

Die Paalhys is really beautiful, well equipped and spacious, making it a very comfy stay away from home. The owner made sure we had enough wood to keep the fire going on the first night and there were electric blankets on the beds. It is a lovely unit, catering for every possible need. The only negative point: we weren't aware that the ground floor is a permanent residence. Unfortunately the unit is not sound resistant at all, so we could hear every word of every conversation the owners had downstairs until they went to bed at night, taking something away from the exceptional quietness that...

Die Paalhys has the perfect atmosphere - cozy and stocked with everything you need. The owner is very friendly and made our stay a memorable one. I will recommend Die Paalhys to anyone who wants to spend time away in Kaapsehoop!

We had a lovely time staying in the Paalhys. We loved the view from the wooden deck when we were not out walking or exploring: stars, swallows, mist rolling in, horses frolicking and baboons investigating the nearby rocks. A real treasure, thank you Fransie!
