We were sceptical and had agtually planned to stop over in Cradock, but because of the Fish River canoe run everything was fully booked. From the first moment everything was a very pleasant experience: friendly reception who even helped us with some private faxing that needed to be done; lovely comfortable rooms; super grounds with excellent restaurant. In future this wil be our overnight stay of choice ! Perhaps a better devil's fork type fencing between this and the adjacent property would be reassuring: we came fresh from an experience of robbery and the flimsy fence worried us a bit.

The food at the restaurant was great and the servers were friendly.

We enjoyed our stay at Celtis Country Lodge. It was very convenient travelling with a baby and being able to have dinner at the lodge.

Excellent stopover. Well received by Maggie. Unfortunately, TV in room allocated out of order. Moved to another room, Number 1, which was also very comfortable, but next to the entrance to the property. This proved to be very noisy, as there were guests returning from a party in the early hours of the morning. We enjoyed a very pleasant dinner - and a hearty breakfast. Staff very obliging. Overall good value for money.

Very pleasant stay over. Room comfortable and clean. Dinner and Breakfast well presented and sufficient. Staff helpful and pleasant. Garden blends in with nice Country Atmosphere. We look forward to future stay-over opportunities at Celtis Country Lodge

Compassberg is 2502m high. From Ganora it takes about 1 hour todrive to the back from where you can start climbing. If you do not have a 4X4 it takes about 3 hours up and 3 hours down. With a 4X4 you can get further up the mountain to a point...
