BRACKENHILLS Private Nature Reserve is the ultimate getaway destination. Whether it’s a romantic weekend away, a mountain biking adventure, a cross-country trail running weekend, a family holiday, or just a relaxing escape into peaceful nature. The four stylish tented lodges are situated high up in the Langeberg mountains bordering the beautiful and peaceful Grootvadersbosch forrests. Wake up to the chorus of forrest birds and the magnificent mountain views; take a walk through indigenous forests and largely unexplored mountains, swim in the refreshing pools in the deep river gorge; take a guided forrest tour to the Canyon or to view the heard of Cape Buffalo; hone your skills with clay pigeon shooting; have a picnic in the forrest, and enjoy good food and wine in front of an open African fire. The tented lodges have been designed to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible with each tent having it’s own private outdoor bathroom. Water and Energy Usage:
BRACKENHILLS is a conservation reserve powered by solar energy and the water supply is collected rain water. Please assist us in using water and lights only when necessary. The staff at BRACKENHILLS work very hard to maintain our power and water supplies and so we kindly ask that you remember to turn off lights and water after use.

Safety:
BRACKENHILLS is the ideal getaway to escape the busy work life and like anywhere that is in the wild, there are dangerous animals, reptiles and insects to be aware of. Puff Adder snakes can be found in the rocky grassland areas and will generally avoid humans, however, it is advised that you wear long trousers (or gaiters) and have a walking stick at hand when hiking through the grasslands. Scorpions often hide under rocks and logs, so take care when lifting rocks or other objects.
The fencing on the Reserve is there for your safety and is mostly electrified to contain wild animals such as African Buffalo, which may be dangerous and should be treated with respect. Please do not touch or attempt to climb the fences and ensure that children are accompanied by a responsible adult when approaching any fenced area.

General:
All facilities within the lodge camp area are for your shared pleasure whilst you are with us. Nevertheless this is an active working Conservation Reserve and all workshops and sheds are strictly out of bounds. Please make sure you (and any children) do not go beyond these areas.
All bathrooms and toilets are septic tank systems so we ask that you do not dispose of anything other than toilet paper in the system. Everything else should be disposed of in the waste bins provided.
Whenever you encounter animals, please do let us know when, where and what you saw; this will help us in keeping track of animal movements on the Reserve.
The bordering Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve Trails can be accessed at the Cape Nature day rate of R40 per person per day

We loved the creative, comfortable, clean tent accommodation. We loved the good food and knowledgable and caring hosts. We loved being on a working farm so close to Grootvadersbosch which is a natural treasure.

We had a great stay at Brackenhills. When we arrived Simon had already lit a big fire for braai for us. The whole place is absolutely breathtaking. The tents are spacious and provide you with everything you need. The beds were the most comfortable ones that we had so far in SA. We especially loved the outdoor bathroom. On the next day we enjoyed a great and tatsy breakfast. Simon even took us on a Jeep trip to his buffaloes. We'll definitively come back to this beautiful place with this most welcoming and friendly hosts!
