About Blommekloof Country Cottages
Blommekloof Country Cottages are your 5 star, PET friendly, KID friendly, PLANET friendly - self catering dream cottages ! Set on a small farm in the Outeniqua mountains, but close enough for fabulous day trips to Mossel Bay, Outshoorn, George, Sedgefield market, Vic Bay for surfing and so many other nearby places......... there are detailed lists on our site. But everything is within 45 minutes and then you get to come home and chillax !!! Totally off the grid, this Solar + gas powered farm is a delightful place to let the kids run amok, and for you to rejuvinate your soul. There is minimal cell reception, there are NO TV's (wi-fi @ the main house if you need to download anything urgently) .... where reading, playing board games, fishing (3 dams for catch and release with Black Bass and Carp), birdwatching, hiking, plenty of mountain-biking, horse riding, savouring red wine in front of the fire, or having that great big BRAAI are some of the things that are the order of the day ! Both cottages are fully fenced (to keep your pets in) with lovely private gardens filled with beautiful plants, trees, herbs and fruit or veggies planted for your use. They both have HUGE Braai areas............and all your fire and braai wood is FREE !!! yep ! beat that ! Sunflower cottage has 2 bedrooms : 1 x beautiful brass double bed, and 2 singles in the 2nd bedroom - but there is also a sleeper couch in the lounge should you want to be 6 people. It is open plan lounge / dining room + kitchen - lovely high ceilings, light and airy - with a fireplace in the lounge for chilly winter evenings. Old Cottage - is an old renovated labourers cottage, which sports 3 bedrooms, 2 with double beds, and a big kids room with 4 single beds, there is also a large and comfy sleeper couch in the lounge - so it can accomodate a BIG family of up to 10 with ease. It has 3 bathrooms, the 2 doubles are en-suite with showers and then there is a wheelchair friendly bathroom with both bath and shower - with a gas geyser for those days when the solar is a little slow because of weather - you know you will always be able to have a warm bath or shower !!!There is only a small stretch of gravel road (max 6km depending on which way you come in) but it is very good and any car can manage - so you do not need a 4 x 4 ! We have prided ourselves in making the cottages extremely well equipped and especially the kitchens - you literally only have to bring yourselves, your food, drink and personal toiletries......... we provide the rest. (oh and bring dog beds)...... There is a large jungle gym for the kids to play on and there are sheep, cows, geese, chickens and guinea fowl all around you apart from the natural othe wildlife that one is often quite lucky to see. All in all this is a wonderful place to spend anything from a weekend to a couple of weeks, and you will go home and count the days until you can come back and throw off your shoes and drink a sundowner and look down over the tranquil valley filled with arum lilies !!!
