About Black Forest Mountain Lodge

Nestling in the foothills of the unique, indigenous Black Forest and in the shade of spreading Tipuana trees, you will find the secluded and homely German style Black Forest Mountain Lodge situated in a malaria free area.

Experience silver mists, so soft and dense, you'll wonder if you've stumbled on 'Narnia', or night skies so clear, you might try to reach into the black velvet canopy and catch a star. Drink in the perfume of pine-strewn, dappled paths that will wind you around three small dams, where mossy tracks invite you to rustle through a chestnut forest. Bring your mountain bike and accept our challenge to conquer these hills.

We have eco-friendly, rustic cabins and the old original farmhouse, Zeederberg House that belonged to the Zeederberg family. Our house, cabins and camp grounds are fully serviced and equipped. Do you enjoy travelling off the beaten track? Are you a 4 x 4 enthusiast and love adventure and a rustic accommodation? During the summer months when we experience high rainfall, our 4 km road from the village will certainly excite 4 x 4 enthusiasts. We offer nature at its best, Get out of your comfortable chair and climb into the saddle of your mountain bike and experience this very special place.

Set up camp in unspoiled indigenous surroundings, overlooking a small gorge. Enjoy early morning coffee with the sound of birds laughing, as they tease you and swoop over your sizzling bacon and eggs that you can cook up in our well-equipped self-catering facility at the campsite. Get comfy in a cabin, put your feet up and enjoy a good book and feel like you're miles from nowhere and time does not exist. Tell us what birds you would like to see and we'll arrange for a bird guide to take you on a tour of our area.

Let your children enjoy the outdoors and our fresh air, while the tranquil beauty engulfs your soul, and allows your heart to hear the pine trees whispering "Hello.....". Play volleyball or croquet on the front lawn. Relax at our dam and watch the ducks go by. Sit on a chair or explore the garden and enjoy true peace and quiet. Take a walk through the Black Forest or Forest Glen.

Enjoy scenery unique to the Magoebaskloof area. For the fisherman, fishing in local rivers and Ebenezer dam is available. At night, spy on the moon peeping through the tree tops. Take a romantic stroll in the shadowed garden, while moonbeams silver-tip the trees and shrubs. Listen to the sounds of silence and.... sleep deeply!!! Aware... only in your dreams of a porcupine family rattling by and a drowsy old owl hooting softly in the majestic and brooding Black Forest. We offer you peace! Our most valuable and sought-after commodity!! We invite you to take off your watches, turn off your cell phones and enjoy this amazing spot, as near to heaven as you can get on our stress-filled planet.

We camped for 3 nights. We were the only campers there and really enjoyed the silence and peacefulness of the campsite area. It is small but has ample space for abput 3-4 tents. The ablution block is small and rustic but had everything we needed. We always had wonderfully hot water to shower in. They allowed us a later checkout time and we really appreciated this! We had a lovely stay!

Arriving in Heanertsburg, my Fiance' and I found the signpost easily to our weekend accommodation "Black mountain forest lodge", a mere 4km of dirt road brought us to a green lawn clearimg in the dense forest where we found our cabin awaiting us, after turning off the cars engine all that we could hear were the birds and a light breeze blowing through the pine needles. We seemed to be totally alone inside the forest and from the patio of the cabin views of unsurpased beauty can be experienced all around. The cabin was equally as beautiful inside and fully equipped with all the modern amenities....

When we arrived...we expected something much more old fashioned! Pleasantly surprised...the accomodation was excellent. Barry...the manager....was very accommodating and very hospitable. It was the much needed break away that we needed so badly from the hustle and bustle of Pretoria! Will definately be going there again....its truly a hidden gem!

Excellent staff and very comfortable stay. We were a big crowd with big teenage boys and the two ladies worked very hard. The caretaker was very sweet in helping us with candles and making us comfortable when the electricity went out after the hail storm. Thank you so much for everything. One of the best weekend spots we've been to in the past 18 years!
