About Tsakane Safari Camp

Tsakane is located in the Balule Nature Reserve which is home to the Big 5 and also boasts a wide variety of fauna and flora, interesting topography and beautiful vistas. The Balule Nature Reserve forms part of the nearly 3.5 million-hectare Greater Kruger National Park.Tsakane Safari Camp has been carefully designed to integrate with the natural environment and to reflect the ambience of a walking safari and wilderness trail base camp. Accommodation units comprise four air-conditioned chalets, each accommodating two guests with en-suite showers and toilets. The units are fanned along the perimeter of the unfenced camp and our entertainment boma, reading lounge, Jacuzzi deck, splash pool with tanning deck, bar and dinner boma.We believe that catering is an integral part of the safari experience. In order to ensure that this philosophy is realized, meals are seldom served at the same venue and depending on environmental conditions may include an adventurous bush barbecue or a relaxing riverside brunch picnic. Our menu reflects typical wholesome and healthy bush food and most meals are uniquely prepared on an open fire.Walking safaris are not necessarily about viewing game from the comfort of a luxury game vehicle but rather about establishing an intimate relationship with nature. To achieve this, we take you on a 150-million-year journey through time and our celebrated rangers allow you to explore and experience how, why and when this amazing ecology has developed into one of the world’s largest open ecologies.Typically our rangers will encourage you to experience the interaction between species and the importance of ecological diversity. You will see how these ecological systems are managed and you will never miss an opportunity to get involved in the age-old art of tracking big game and the thrill of approaching them on foot.

Terry, Adrian, Shaun and Sebastian were amazing hosts. Nothing was too much trouble...the food was good and the accommodation was very comfortable. We were made to feel at home and as South Africans this was one of our best bush experiences. We will definitely be back!

This is not a camp where you will see the Big 5. If you are very very lucky, perhaps two of the Big 5. The food was not good except for two evenings - a game potjie and a bush braai. If you want to only rest and walk this camp is OK. The beds are not suitable for couples and they do not give fresh bedding or towels during our four-night stay. The area they cover are too small and they are limited to this with no access to the river, where we could view maybe more game.

We enjoyed the experience, we were well looked after. Terry and his team were first rate and really passionate about what they were doing. Thank you!

We had great time here. Thank you very much Terry, Mark and Barry. This place is comfortable enough and you have that safari camp feeling. Easy to access from main road.

We had a really wonderful time at Tsakane Safari Camp. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with everyone we met there. The food was amazing. Even our son, who is a very picky eater loved it. The wildlife drives and walks were great. We will remember all the stories and conversations at the table and around the camp fire. Thanks so much! It was great!
