About Tembe Elephant Park

Experience the majesty of the largest and only indigenous elephant herd in KwaZulu-Natal South Africa and so much more. Situated in Maputaland, in North Eastern KwaZulu-Natal, Tembe is home to a rich diversity of wildlife including the Big Five and is also a bird watchers paradise.

Enjoy the best of both worlds the magnificence of a national game park, managed by KZN Wildlife, with the personal touch and service of a community run lodge.

The lodge consists of luxury en-suite tented accommodation with outside showers attached to the units. A small pool to cool off, and open camp fire area complete the picture. Cultural experiences include Zulu / Thonga dancing.

Tariffs include all meals, tea & coffee and 2 daily guided 4x4 game drives. Visit Tembe for an exclusive bush experience.

We reserve the right to amend our tariffs without prior notice from management.

It was a wonderful stay at Tembe. The tents were clean, well equipped and comfortabel. The Tembe tribe welcome you and say good bye to you with a song. The restaurant has a new thatched roof.Everything looks very professional. The old plastic chairs don´t fit to the new outlay and hopefully they will change it in the future as well as the dark lightning.I stayed there for 3 nights and one can easily spend more days. The guides are very knowledgeable and especially Patrick is quite humorous.Staying in May is no problem at all. A little bit chilly in the morning but quite warm during the day.Cori...

We had an excellent time at Tembe, the two Rangers, Willie and Nkosi had a comprehensive knowledge of the flora and fauna and made each game drive varied from the previous one as they explained all facets of the Park, they also both showed an excellent sense of humour with their explanations. The Manager Tom also went the extra mile helping me out with a vehicle problem. All the staff we had contact with were always bright and cheerful. We would certainly recommend both local and overseas visitors to make sure Tembe is on their places to visit list.

Really enjoyed the tented accommodation.  Staff were very friendly and hospitable.  Our guide, Carlos, was exceptional.  Didn't see very much game unfortunately, so it was just as well we were all interested in birds.

We have had the most amazing weekend at Tembe Elephant Park. Such a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were amazing. Very attentive. Accommodation was wonderful and the spa treatment was just the best. Vusi was an amazing guide around the park. Saw 4 out of the big five. Just simply amazing.
