About Oude Denneboom

Our cottages date from the 1800’s and was recently fully restored and upgraded. They are located in our private game reserve, away from the noise and disturbances of everyday life. Oude Denneboom is a working wine and olive farm in the Voor-Paardeberg wine region of Paarl.

We are very proud of what we can offer and you will experience a very special tranquil atmosphere in beautiful surroundings. At night you will be able to see the stars without any light pollution and it will be wonderfully quiet, except perhaps for the occasional hooting of your closest neighbour, a pair of barn owls whose nest is just outside the main bedroom.

We offer modern amenities, with the charm of reed ceilings, wooden shutters, and an authentic olde world atmosphere. Our cottage is self-catering and you only have to bring your own food and drinks. We can, however, also arrange for that if indicated at the time of booking. We provide bedding, towels, crockery, utensils, firewood, and even firelighters.

The bedroom offers two bedrooms; a larger room with a double bed and bathroom with bath and a large shower for two, and a smaller bedroom with two single beds and private shower. The fully-equipped kitchen comprises granite work surfaces, fridge with freezer, oven and stove combination, microwave, and dishwasher. The living area has a large traditional fireplace and barbecue facilities, while there are also barbecue facilities outside if you want to enjoy the outdoors. We service the cottage every day except on Sundays.

The private game reserve is located on the farm Oude Denneboom in the Voor-Paardeberg wine ward, which lies between Paarl and Malmesbury. It is 15 km from Paarl where you will find a number of excellent restaurants and shops. The farm is also 40 km from Stellenbosch and 70 km from the Cape Town International Airport.

We had a fabulous stay at Oude Denneboom. The cottage is very well appointed and the views stunning, with the game coming right up to the pool for a drink of water! The huge indoor fireplace was a treat on the colder autumn evenings. Highly recommended.

We loved being here. Closing the heavy wooden shutters at night and opening them in the mornings to see the zebras and the buck was exciting. The facilities were ample with everything provided in a well-equipped kitchen. The scuttling of guinea fowl and the tiny wagtails peeping through the tiny white daisies in the grass were just part of a romantic hideaway, close to nature and so very peaceful. We loved it.

We had a wonderful time at this very lovely cottage with all our animal-friends, which came every morning to say hello. We enjoyed the tranquility, the bright stars at night, the large fireplace to cook our dinner and enjoy the excellent wine from Willem, our very friendly host. We enjoyed everything at this marvellous place. It was one of our best places we have stayed so far in South-Africa. We certainly will be back in the future.
