About De Hoop Collection

The De Hoop Collection offers accommodation ranging from camping to more luxurious options set in the magnificent surrounds of the De Hoop Nature Reserve. Few other reserves offer as complete an outdoor experience as De Hoop, with sea, sand dunes, the vlei, a floral sensation of rare fynbos plants, diverse antelope and the Potberg Mountains.

Birdwatchers spend time along the shores of the vlei observing wading birds, while the Potberg Mountains are home to a colony of endangered Cape vultures. Hikers and cyclists have close encounters with bontebok, the Cape mountain zebra, eland and baboons. Activities are diverse and guests can choose between various day walks, the Whale trail, mountain biking along the many gravel roads and scenic game drives. Lazing on the beach and snorkelling in the many turquoise rock pools are great ways to pass the days.

De Hoop offers a holiday experience for any type of traveller, from the backpacker to the guest preferring the finer things in life. A truly memorable getaway awaits.

We had such a great stay at De Hoop. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. Seeing the many animals was a wonderful surprise and the scenery spectacular!

De Hoop is special - perhaps it is the remoteness, perhaps it is the location; or perhaps it is simply the people. The staff at the De Hoop Collection are amazing in their hospitality - be it at the shop, the various guided activities, the bar or the restaurant. They are helpful, knowledgable and friendly. It is no wonder that people seem to make De Hoop an annual get away - after my 2 nights; I am considering the same!

The De Hoop nature reserve is really beautiful (Whale watching from the shore) and definitively worth visiting. For accomodation there is no real alternative than De Hoop Collection. We were a little disappointed since we booked an Opstal Vlei Cottage, but were asigned an Equipped Cottage upon arrival. Also, we booked a table at the restaurant at 9 pm and had to wait until 9:45 pm before the table was available. Because of this we were the last guests and felt a little stressed when desert was served and the staff obviously wanted to call in the day. However, the food and drinkes were very...
