About Blesfontein Guest Farm

Blesfontein is situated 28 km southwest of Sutherland in the Northern Cape. This large working farm offers nine self-catering rooms, each on a different part of the farm.

The stone units are all basic yet offer all the necessary amenities for self-catering. Each unit has its own bathroom facilities and most units have an indoor fireplace or a braai outside.

The farm itself offers a large terrain to explore either by taking a long relaxing walk or heading out on your mountain bike. There is also an abundance of animals and bird life on the farm. In the cement reservoir next to the Poplar trees down the hill we have a lot of friendly Koi fish.

The tame farmyard animals are harmless and friendly. Although all the animals are fed regularly you are allowed to feed them at any time of the day. Please note that as a result of our tame farm animals we cannot allow visiting dogs.

Safari: Game viewing from horse back

Wedding Venues: On 10 October we are hosting our first farm wedding. Cant wait! 80 guests are coming. The bride arrives under the wedding tree in a cart pulled by spotty appaloosa horses.

Conference Venues: We can accommodate small conferences - up to 11 delegates having own rooms or up to 20 delegates who are willing to share. Meals can be served as per prior request. Farm activities available for delegates.

Family friendly: Family break aways, birth days, long weekends. Farm freedom for kids on bicycles. Horse riding, swimming, mountain biking. picnics at view point. game viewing. Up to 10 families can celebrate grand pa's birth day over a weekend.

Romantic: Sundowner drive to awesome view point at escarpment. Honeymoon suite

We had a lovely stay at Blesfontein and will surely visit again. Our children had pony rides, played with the tame meerkat and loved the alpacas. The units are well equipped and Marina and Nicol are available at all times, if needed. They are really super hosts! I wish I could have stayed for the entire stargazing experience, but the kids got too tired. I will definitely recommend this farm to people travelling to Sutherland.

The owners were accommodating. We loved the fact that wood was supplied as it was very cold.In the description of the location of the farm it should be mentioned that it is quite a distance out of town and you have to travel on a terrible gravel road to get to the farm. The bumpy 27km drive on the gravel road took us more than an hour.

Escaping the city life by going to a wonderfully interesting and creative space like Blesfontein is a (now) proven recipe for recharging. The landscapes, the escarpment (wow!), the different animals, the horseriding, the stargazing, and the incredibly wonderful Marina and Nicol all work together to. create a beautiful experience in the magical Karoo!
