Town of Hibiscus Coast
A Cinderella town
Port Shepstone boasts 18km of beautiful surf and dune fringed sandy beaches, from Banana Beach in the north to Oslo Beach in the south. The beaches that front the town centre are developed with parks, restaurants and swimming pools. The popular swimming beaches of Southport and Umtentweni have shark nets, guarded car parks, kiosks or restaurants, ablutions and braai areas, but here are many long stretches of deserted pristine sands and dunes that are perfect for long walks or just basking in the sun. De Kelders must be the best Whale Watching location in the World??!! We've been there 2 years in a row now and saw many, many whales. My Granddaughter, aged 5, made the following remark this past weekend: "This was my THIRD BEST DAY EVER!!! First Christmas, then my birthday and now the whales TODAY!!" That was after we had a "Whale of a Time" watching and photographing breaching whales all morning!!

Parys is almost within spitting distance of Gauteng (120 km), making it a GREAT place to visit even for a day trip. Several wonderful restaurants, some of which overlook the beautiful Vaal River, give a wide choice of food, and if you do stay overnight, the variety of B & B establishments in the town and environs makes personal preferences easy to appease.Rediscover window-shopping, not always possible in big cities these days, with the many art, craft and antique shops where admirers and browsers are welcome.Visit the air strip and watch the local air-borne activities, and even enjoy a...see more

Once a year Riebeeck Kasteeel
One of my favorite trips each year is to Riebeeck Kasteel. I go to participate in the 21km PPC run but then book the entire week end in order to enjoy this special place- It has such a tranquil and soothing energy and really feels like you are away on a relaxing holiday. I love all the restaurant-Always fresh ingredients and such interesting menus if you are a food lover. A walk in the town is always a treat- which is so quaint with a few hidden little avenues which surprizes with gorgeous shops. The lastest surprize was the amazing upgrade to the Hotel-Old World charm! Reminded me of 'The Moun...see more
