Mount Ceder Lodge in the Cederberg Mountains is a perfect destination for a weekend away, offering visitors a host of exciting accommodation and activity options. Located in a valley, surrounded by rugged and arrestingly dramatic mountains, Mount Ceder is situated on the main route through the Cederberg range. The lodge features 11 fully equipped self-catering cottages sleeping two to six people, as well as three lovely campsites. All cottages are fully equipped with linen, towels, cutlery, crockery a fridge, stove, and microwave. There is also a fireplace inside and a braai area outside each cottage. Firewood available for purchase and a cleaning service is available on request. The Old Mill House Restaurant provides hearty dinners, breakfasts and light lunches if you don't feel like cooking, and the little on-site store supplies essentials as well as local olive and fruit products. Mount Ceder has so much to offer such as hiking, river swimming, canoeing, horse riding, mountain biking, and exploring the local rock art. The Cederberg region is only two and a half hours from Cape Town and yet the landscape is completely different from that of the Mother City; it is wilder and warmer, with a raw dramatic beauty. The dominating characteristic of the area is sharply defined sandstone rock formations, often reddish in colour. This group of rocks contains bands of shale and in recent years, a few important fossils have been discovered in these argillaceous layers. Farmers also cultivate the world-famous healthy rooibos tea, found only in the Cederberg of South Africa, and a visit to a rooibos farm is a delightful addition to a day trip from Mount Ceder.

Elundini Backpackers is a newly opened backpacker located only 20 minutes from Hogsback in the Amatola Mountains. Elundini lies in a picturesque, rural Xhosa Village, where travellers can meet and share in the culture. Elundini offers a completely off-the-grid, eco-experience, with solar geysers and electricity and water from rainwater harvesting. We want our guests to enjoy the overwelming nature, lakes, breathtaking views and most of all, share a common place where the living together and the enriching exchange with the local Xhosa people makes all the difference. Accommodation is offered in outside rondavels, which are warm in winter and cool and summer, as well as camping facilities. There are no electrical plugs in the rooms and our warm water is provided by solar geysers. All of the rooms share a clean ablution block next to the main building, which is a common area with a bar lounge and a self-catering kitchen. Guests are welcome to make use of the self-catering kitchen or they can join us for meals. A basic breakfast and lunch is available and a set menu is available for dinner every night. For activities, we rely on the local community. They've set up a list of activities for guests to enjoy so they really get at the homes of the people instead of letting the local people come to the backpackers. Stroll through the village and visit the local shop, the primary school or crèche. Take a hike with our local guides and enjoy the beautiful nature, visit the surrounding villages, or hike all the way to Hogsback. Follow with an afternoon Xhosa lesson so you can have a basic conversation at the end of the day. This will surprise and impress Xhosa people all over South Africa. Learn how to make your own Xhosa bread and bake it on an open fire with wood that you fetch yourself in the forest and bring back on your head, or go on a horse ride with well-trained horses and enjoy the lovely views.

Warthogs Bush Camp is Cameron Harvey Safaris' small, friendly and rather unique budget camp on the outskirts of Kariba town. Despite its close proximity to urban life, it's nestled in mopane scrub on the shores of the lake and is bang in the middle of a game corridor, so exciting close-up game viewing is a common past time. The Bush Camp is a perfect stopover location before houseboat trips, canoe trips and ferry trips or just to chill for a few days. We currently offer accommodation for up to 20 people by way of 3 tented units, 3 thatched en-suite cabins and a fully equipped dorm-style self-catering Cottage. We also have a small area for camping. We supply bedding, mosquito nets, toilet rolls and BASIC braai equipment; you only need bring with you your own towel, toiletries and a torch. There is a communal fridge for campers' use in the bar. If you prefer, bring your own cooler box for the cabins (not allowed in the bar area). Talking of facilities, we have hot showers and clean toilets for the campers and there are braai stands...please ask for them at the bar. The bar kitchen and grill is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11am to 8.30pm. If guests require breakfast the staff will come in for you if requested. We have staff on duty 24-hours a day as a security presence, to help with washing up, and assist with making fires. For entertainment there's our friendly ‘bush bar’ and splash pool. Elephants, hippo and zebra often wander through to check our menu and keep the grass trimmed. On cool nights you can sit round the fire pit overlooking the floodplain and lake. As registered operators we can book you onto sunset cruises, houseboat safaris and canoe trips. To make life easy, shops and fuel are only a few kilometres away.
