The Queen's Hotel is an oasis of colonial elegance and wired modern convenience in the heart of Oudtshoorn - the capital of the beautiful semi-arid Klein Karoo.
Finished in 1880, this grand dame of South African hoteliery has recently been restored to her full original beauty and continues to offer sumptuous accommodation, service and dining that is reminiscent of a bygone era but driven by dynamic modern hotel management.
The Queen's can accommodate 82 people in our 40 non-smoking rooms (Double, Twin, Family and Deluxe). All have WiFi, individually remote-controlled air-conditioning, satellite TV, direct dial telephone, clock radio, work desk, safe, coffee/tea facilities, communal lounge area and bathrooms with overhead/separate shower & bath, towels, toiletries & luxury linen. We have one room fitted with grab rails, but all rooms are wheelchair-accessible and the hotel has an elevator between floors.
Breakfast (included in room rate) is served in the breakfast room: 7:30 to 10:00
Dinner is served at the Colony Restaurant (not included).
The Colony Restaurant - fine dining for young and old
The upstairs Colony Restaurant offers superb meals for young and old and an excellent wine menu, 7 days a week. The menu and specials are unmistakably South African, featuring signature dishes by head chef Rickus Engelbrecht and his team.
For parties of more than 10 people, we can offer a set menu. Groups of more than 20 can order a full buffet dinner.
Seasonal opening times; Summer (Dec to Feb): 18:00 to 23:00 and Winter (Jun to Aug): 17:00 to 22:00.
Special diet requests: Vegetarian meals available on our menu. We can cater for gluten-free, lactose-intolerant, diabetic and any other dietary requests.
