Paternoster Paternoster
Town of West Coast

Best kept secret on the West Coast . . .
An ABSOLUTE must for a quiet little holiday on the West Coast. Beautiful and picturesque - buy fresh crayfish as the fishermen's boats come in :-) Lovely beaches, restaurants and loads of accommodation to choose from!! Don't miss out on this one . . . - Sandy Coughlan on Paternoster

Yzerfontein Yzerfontein
Town of West Coast

Yzerfontein a must to visit
My husband and I took a drive into Yzerfontein quite by accident one day, as we had been exploring the West Coast. Wtih the drive in, I thought to myself, how dry and dead this place is. But boy was I pleasantly surprised! What a picturesque little town. I fell in love with it and knew my family would love it too, so that was our next holiday destination! We spent 3 days in Yzerfontein and will definitely be back.

Port Owen Port Owen
Town of West Coast

Unique and delightful
This was our first visit to the West Coast and so we were unsure as to what to expect. Coming from Natal we found it very dry and windy but we enjoyed seeing all the birds and fynbos in the area. We enjoyed a lovely boat ride up the lagoon and took many lovely photographs.

St Helena Bay St Helena Bay
Town of West Coast

Quiet location
St Helena is a quiet location on the West Coast. It does not have good swimming beaches but it is centrally located to explore the West Coast down to Langebaan and up to Lambertsbaai. The fish factories are a bit of an eye sore but otherwise nothing really to complain about. Our family visited in December but did not see any whales or dolphins.

Aurora Aurora
Town of West Coast

Aurora
In the Bergriver region. 180 kms North of Cape Town on the N7 or 50 kms from Veldrift (the closest town) on the R 27 West Coast Road, lies the charming village of Aurora. Nestled at the foot of the Mountain, a quaint town square and the NG Kerk, designed by W H Ford, wait peacefully to greet you as you enter the village. Aurora is a must in spring. Orange, red, yellow, white pink flowers, dazzling the landscape, with intense colours everywhere you look. The first geodetic (triangulated) survey was carried out in 1751 by Abbe` de Caille, between Strand Street in Cape Town - on the mountain...
